FROM OUR P&C
Our most successful Spell-a-thon ever has wrapped up for 2026!
We hope our students enjoyed participating, learning new words and working together to fundraise for our school.

A massive thank you to our Spell-a-thon event team led by our parent co-ordinator Sabrina for the time spent behind the scenes bringing this event together.
Special thanks to our student councillors, leadership team and teachers for helping throughout the event.

Thank you to our sponsors Trent Powles and Mel Christie who generously donated $2 000 to cover the cost of our spell-a-thon prizes won by our students.

A big shout out to Steffan, the amazing Captain Spell-a-lot for including Coorparoo State School in his adventures and encouraging our school community to get behind this fundraiser.

Lastly thank you to the CSS students and their families who supported them. By working together our community raised an incredible $35 005.23.

Chookas!

Did you know? "Chookas" is primarily used in Australian and New Zealand theatre to wish performers success before a show without directly saying "good luck". In early 20th-century Australia, a full house at a theatre meant performers could afford a chicken meal, considered a treat. The phrase "chook it is" may have evolved into "chookas" as a way to wish a successful show.
