Late last month, we responded to an escaped burn in the Coondle area. The fire affected a small surface but involved two large trees that required significant attention from crews to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and safe.

Fortunately, existing firebreaks helped contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further. Thanks to the quick response and efforts of our volunteers, the incident was brought under control safely and efficiently.

This serves as a timely reminder to always monitor burn activities closely and ensure appropriate precautions are in place.

Stay safe and be fire aware.

An early morning call out for brigades in Coondle yesterday, after a fire area reignited overnight.

On arrival, crews were met with a small amount of running fire and several trees alight, however the fire was quickly contained by responding firefighters.

Crews then carried out further mop-up and blacking out operations across the area.

This incident is a timely reminder that fires can remain active beneath the surface long after they appear out, particularly in current conditions. Continued monitoring of burnt areas is essential.

Last Sunday, crews responded to an escaped burn in Coondle that had spread on a slope, creating some challenging conditions for firefighters.

Crews worked quickly to contain the fire, with lay flats used to assist in suppression efforts and prevent further spread.

This incident is another reminder of how quickly burns can escape, particularly on sloping ground and in dry conditions. Please ensure burns are constantly monitored and fully extinguished before leaving the area.
Thank you to all brigades and personnel who responded and assisted at the incident.

On Friday, we were called to an incident in West Toodyay following an escaped burn on a challenging terrain.

Thank you to everyone who responded.

This incident also serves as an important reminder for everyone to be prepared when conducting burns. Always check conditions carefully, have adequate resources on hand, maintain firebreaks, and never leave a burn unattended. Small burns can escalate quickly under the wrong conditions.

Volunteers are the backbone of so many organisations, sporting clubs, community groups, emergency services, schools, charities, and local events. They give their time, energy, skills, and support without expecting anything in return, simply because they care about helping others and making a difference.

The teamwork and dedication shown by volunteers every single day often go unseen. For us, it is often late nights, missed family time, long hours on incidents, and standing side-by-side in challenging conditions. All of what makes the volunteer spirit so strong.

This Volunteer Week, we thank every volunteer across our community and emergency services network for everything you do. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and our communities are stronger because of you.

On Friday, we were called to an incident in Bejoording. A grass fire that spread to a creek line. Lots of water was needed and by the end, it had turned into a bit of a swamp.

Muddy boots and wet ground certainly made for a few laughs’ but it did not stop the camaraderie and teamwork on scene.

Fantastic work by all volunteers who responded and got the job done efficiently

Another day of back-to-back calls, with reports of fires in Morangup and West Toodyay.

It can be challenging to crew appliances during working days, but today was once again an example of brigades working together to support the community. A Coondle crew member teamed up with the Bejoording crew to assist on the incidents.

Thank you to everyone who attended and assisted throughout the day.

With conditions remaining dry, please stay aware and report any signs of fire early.

Yesterday turned into one of those days where it was basically “we have to stop meeting like this.”
Coondle crews responded to 3 callouts across the afternoon, pretty much back-to-back.

The first incident was an escaped burn in West Toodyay. While crews were clearing that job, the pagers went off again for a verge fire in Morangup. After returning home from that incident, crews were called out once more to a reported fire in Coondle West, which was found to be a contained and controlled bonfire.

A special mention to one of our newest members who attended their very first turnout and got some firsthand experience on the truck. Well done! 👏

Fantastic effort from Coondle crews and all local brigades throughout what turned into a very eventful day.

And finally, another special mention to all the mums today. Whether you’re on the front line, behind the scenes, supporting from home, or filling a motherly role in someone’s life, we couldn’t do what we do if it wasn’t for you. Happy Mother’s Day 💐
