With Autumn upon us it is a good time to see what seeds are ready to start harvesting for next year.

Here is a little tutorial on collecting echinacea seeds.

Always remember, if you have more seeds than you need we will happily take them and package them up for the Coonabarabran seed library .

Just bring your labelled seeds into The Lighthouse, Coonabarabran and ask one of their friendly staff. They will make sure they get to us.

Very exciting!
Just saw male, female and juvenile spotted bowerbirds raiding my cherry tomatoes!!!
I thought I had seen them before but this time the male posed on top of my shovel and fluffed his pink crest!

I swear my veggie patch is a third to me, a third to other people and a third to nature.

The Coonabarabran seed library has moved into the main part of The Lighthouse, Coonabarabran
Making it nice and easy to access again!
Thank you Michelle and team for your ongoing support! It's always great to pop in, grab some free seeds and maybe sneaky coffee as well.

All seeds are free to anyone who would like to access them but we do take donations as well.
Coin donations can be put in the mouth of the hungry kookaburra on top of the seed library and all proceeds go to Rotary Club of Coonabarabran who have sponsored us for the last 2 years!

It's coming to the end of the summer season.
Don't forget to save some of your best produce to harvest seed from.
We are getting lots of seeds from Red Kuri pumpkins this year and a big harvest of the grey zucchini's!
Both of these plants like the heat and do not need as much water as some other varieties. They have produced well during this long hot summer.

We have a wide range of Heirloom vegetable and flower seeds ready to plant available from the free mobile seed library tomorrow at the Coona Community Garden get together from 9-11am in Neilson Park. A more extensive range is available at the Lighthouse Cafe from Wednesday to Saturdays.

Hot tip from a friend...
You don't need seedlings trays.
Pop your egg shells back in the egg cartons, back fill with soil of choice....and seeds ofcourse.
This is one week on.
Great activity with kids
I may now have a 6yr old gifting me egg cartons and checking on the seedlings...and waiting for the last frost to plant them all

Spring is just around the corner and we are stocking the Seed Library with FLOWER SEEDS! They will be available for every entry at the Coona Garden Club Spring FLOWERS Show this Friday from 10 am at The Presbyterian Church Hall as well as the Seed Library in the cafe section of the Lighthouse!

But, the seed library is feeling like spring!

Good time to start some seedlings off indoors or in a greenhouse. Or stock up before the final frosts come!

The Coona Seed Library is up and running again for Spring! See you this morning at pur MOBILE stall at the Coona Community Garden gathering from 9- 11 am at Neilson Park. The seed co-ordinator will be there to give you advice on seed saving and Spring seed sowing. The coffee cart and musicians will be there too!
