It was fantastic to see so many people showing an interest in protecting and caring for our heritage-listed Emerald Fringe. The recent community meeting focused on how the LNP election commitment of a $100,000 grant to Council could potentially be repurposed to best support the care, protection, and future management of this unique natural asset. It was wonderful to see so many thoughtful ideas and passionate discussions from the community.
We also noticed there was some uncertainty around the exact boundaries of the Emerald Fringe. This map was originally presented as part of the submission to the State Heritage Council for heritage listing, and following the successful acceptance of that submission, it became the official map defining the heritage boundaries.
Understanding these boundaries is an important part of protecting this very special area for future generations.
