Council crews have been responding to an increase in sewer blockages caused by items that shouldn’t be going down our drains. 🚽⚠️

Wipes, rags, feminine hygiene products, fats and oils don’t break down like toilet paper and can build up in sewer lines and pump stations, causing blockages, equipment damage, and costly repairs.🚫

Even products labelled “flushable” can cause problems in the sewer system. The easiest rule to remember is to only flush the 3 P’s - p*e, poo and toilet paper.

Everything else needs to be disposed of appropriately, a small change at home or at work can help keep our sewer system working as it should.🗑️
