Happy Wildflower Wednesday ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒพ
As we move into Djeran the cooler weather for the outdoors you may notice the fledglings are now becoming more independent and the flying ants maybe abundant. The Grevillea Ripacola which is only endemic to the Collie and Greenbushes Shires, continues to display its quaint little, lemon, orange and red flowers.
Glorious Banksias are also putting on a show with early Ghost Orchid/ Leafless (Praecoxanthus) , Hare (Leporell) and White Bunny (Eriochilus) Orchids flowering underneath on the sandy soils.

What have you discovered in the forest on this ?

Slippery when wet โ˜”๐Ÿ’ฆ

Autumn can deliver some great nature sights, but it can bring slippery trails, wet leaves, mossy rocks and cloudy darker daylight hours, increasing the risk of falls.

To Tour or Not to Tour?
Finding Your Rhythm ๐Ÿงฉ๐ŸŽถ
Whether youโ€™re gearing up for a 22-day outback crossing or a slow-paced day trip through the WA wildflowers, choosing a guided tour is a big decision.

Here is the "For and Against" to help you decide if joining a convoy is your style.
The "For": Why a Guided Tour Hits Different
Mental Reset: When youโ€™re following a lead vehicle/guide, the stress of navigation and "whatโ€™s around the next bend" disappears. You can actually look out and soak in the landscape while someone else monitors the track conditions.

Safety & Support: Youโ€™ve got a mechanical and safety net. Whether itโ€™s a tricky recovery in a soft sand patch or just knowing someone has the comms ready, you can push your boundaries with confidence.

Access to the "Deep Dive": It's not just immersive; youโ€™re learning. From the stories of historical tracks to the secret spots where the best wildflowers bloom, a guide unlocks the layers of the land that a GPS just can't show you.

The Unhurried Long Pace: On longer trips, "bush time" takes over. After a few days, the clock doesn't matter. You settle into a rhythm of the sunrise, the track, and the campfire.

The "Against": Is it Right for You?
The Shared Track: You arenโ€™t out there in total isolation. Youโ€™ll be part of a small, curated group. If your goal is to see absolutely no one else for the entire trip, a tour or convoy won't provide that "lone wolf" experience.

The Morning "Roll Out": While we embrace slow travel in all our tours, we do move as a team. Youโ€™ll need to be comfortable with the routine of getting ready to move when the rest of the group is clear to go.

Defined Routes: We stick to the tracks that offer the best experience and preservation for the environment. If you want to spend hours "freestyling" off map, a guided itinerary might feel a bit structured.

The Verdict?
If you want to stop staring at the computer screen and start truly experiencing Western Australia, with a bit of trail grit and a lot of local heart, then a guided tour is the way to go. Itโ€™s about the freedom to explore without the burden of doing it all alone. We are human guides ๐Ÿ˜„

Departing from the Adventure Connections Hub at The Dam kioskโ€”right next door to the iconic Reflections mega mural by Guido van Helten, this guided experience follows the Collie River through wildflowers, orchids, fungi and towering jarrah-marri forests.

Along the way, your local guide shares stories of flora, fauna and hidden wildlife moments. Pause for birdsong, photography and gentle bush breathing, then enjoy a shared grazing plate at glorious Honeymoon Pool before returning by Adventure Connections bus to your vehicle.
