With the Two River Tractor Run 2026 arriving in Colbo today we thought it would be fitting to provide an update on Neale’s tree.

The tree was planted in 2023 after being gifted to Jim and Janine Morgan from their long time friend Neale Daniher AO and is flourishing after the recent rain.

Neale has always been keenly interested and supportive of the Colbinabbin Football Netball Club and the Colbinabbin community so Jim and Janine decided the best place for the tree to flourish would be Colbo.

The Two River Tractor Run is supporting so come down to the oval this afternoon to check out some tractors, bbq dinner and bid on some great auction items.

A Call for Community Consultation on Renewable Energy Projects.

We support renewable energy, but location and community impact matter. We’re calling on our political representatives to prioritise meaningful community engagement in planning large-scale renewable energy projects.

The proposed Cooba Solar Facility in Colbinabbin is a case in point. While we recognise the importance of solar energy in our clean energy future, this project needs a rethink—not because we oppose renewables, but because the community that will live with it hasn’t been properly consulted.

Our Key concerns:
🌾 665 hectares of prime agricultural land potentially affected
☀️ 740,000 solar panels, each 8 meters high
🪫 Over 300 battery storage containers planned
🍇 Potential impact on the Heathcote Wine GI region, affecting local wine industry and tourism

We’re not against progress, but progress should include the voices of those most affected. Despite the scale of this project, no community meeting has been held, and there’s been a lack of transparency in the planning process.

Our request is simple: Consult with us, engage with the community, and work together to find solutions that support renewable energy goals while respecting local concerns and preserving our agricultural heritage.

We support clean energy, but not at the expense of proper community consultation. Let’s ensure responsible development that respects our community, our heritage, and our future

Jacinta Allan Sonya Kilkenny MP Victorian Labor : We, the community, deserve to have a say in shaping our future. Please listen to the people who will live with the consequences of these decisions.
