"Canberra Update"
Really inspiring to see the Canberra community coming together through the Canberra Unites for Nepal: Bottles & Cans Flood Relief Collection campaign.
At Recycle to Revive (R2R), we are proud to support this wonderful initiative that transforms everyday recyclables into meaningful assistance for flood-affected communities in Nepal.
Every bottle and can donated represents more than a recyclable item. It represents solidarity, compassion, and practical support for families facing difficult circumstances. By working together, we can turn simple actions into real impact on the ground.
We encourage everyone across Canberra to contribute their eligible containers, volunteer their time, or help spread the word within their networks. Community-led efforts like this demonstrate the power of collective action and the generosity that exists within our community.
As many of our supporters know, what many people see as waste, we see as an opportunity to create hope, dignity, and positive change.
Through Recycle to Revive (R2R), more than 30,100 donated cans and bottles have been converted into over AUD $3,000 in flood relief support, helping provide:
✅ 10 sets of vital-sign monitoring equipment for health posts and health camps in Nuwakot, Trishuli, and Rasuwa
✅ Clothing support for children and women
✅ Sanitary pads and essential hygiene supplies
✅ Contributions towards Nepal's disaster relief efforts
These relief activities are being coordinated with the support of journalist Bhoj Raj Thapa and his team, who are working directly with flood-affected communities in Nuwakot, Trishuli, and Rasuwa.
Beyond these efforts, R2R has also contributed bedding donations to the community of Tupche through the support of actress Reeccha Sharrma. We are continuing to work closely with local partners, volunteers, and affected communities to identify additional needs and provide further assistance wherever possible as recovery and rebuilding efforts continue.
This impact has only been possible because of the generosity of people who chose to donate their cans and bottles rather than throw them away.
Thank you to all the volunteers, organisers, supporters, and donors making both the Canberra Unites for Nepal campaign and the ongoing work of R2R possible.
♻️ Every bottle. Every can. Every act counts.
On behalf of Recycle to Revive (R2R), we stand with and support this important flood relief initiative and encourage our supporters to get involved, donate their eligible containers, or volunteer their time.
Together, let's turn recyclables into relief and community spirit into action.
