Tonsley was proud to once again sponsor the 24/7 Squash @ Tonsley Corporate Cup, which wrapped up with a great final's night on 12 May.

It was an impressive night of squash, with some closely contested matches and a strong crowd in attendance. The competition ran over several weeks, and it was great to see so many teams involved.

Congratulations to this year’s winning team, AZZO Agility, and runner-up, Sportal. Thank you also to the other teams, Ziptrack, BAE Systems, KWST H Collective Group, and Azzo Tenacity for participating, and to Squash SA for organising another successful Corporate Cup.

A significant milestone for another growing business at Tonsley.

Congratulations to One World LED and Sportal on officially breaking ground on their new development within the Tonsley Innovation District.

From high-resolution LED technology to advanced digital display systems, One World LED has built a global presence from South Australia, continuing to innovate across sport, advertising and digital infrastructure.

Their investment into a new purpose-built facility at Tonsley reflects the continued growth of technology-led businesses choosing to scale within a connected innovation ecosystem.

It was fantastic to see representatives from government, industry and the local community come together to mark the occasion, including Louise Miller-Frost MP and Kris Hanna, Mayor of the City of Marion.

Last week CEO of Tonsley-based business Micro-X, Kingsley Hall, shared his expertise on the panel at the AmCham Australia (American Chamber of Commerce in Australia) lunch.

This highly respected event focused on the rise of advanced manufacturing, with Minister for Defence & Space, Veterans Affairs, State Development, and AI & Digital, the Hon Chris Picton MP highlighting industries in SA that are creating momentum and accelerating change.

This was a true demonstration of the groundbreaking work taking place at Tonsley Innovation District and how businesses like Micro-X are creating world leading change.

Innovation in healthcare depends on more than technology alone. It requires researchers, clinicians and industry working together to solve practical challenges.

That collaboration was on full display at the recent 3D Printed Medical Device Seminar hosted by Flinders University and the Flinders Factory of the Future.

The event explored how testing methods for 3D printed medical devices can better reflect real-world conditions, helping strengthen confidence in the next generation of orthotics, prosthetics and personalised healthcare technologies.

With experts spanning engineering, research, clinical practice and manufacturing, the discussions demonstrated the value of bringing diverse perspectives together to accelerate innovation and improve outcomes.

It’s fantastic to see this kind of applied research and industry engagement continuing to grow within the Tonsley ecosystem.

Founder John Azzollini started his career as an apprentice at Mitsubishi on this very site, long before it became the Tonsley Innovation District. Today, AZZO is based here, making it a special milestone for the team.

It was a pleasure to welcome UK’s Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, Darren Jones MP and showcase the Tonsley Innovation District as part of the program, alongside some uniquely South Australian experiences during Gather Round.

Visits like this highlight the strength of the long-standing partnership between Australia and United Kingdom, and the growing opportunities through AUKUS across defence, industry and innovation.

Local company Oilpath Hydraulics has moved into a new purpose-built facility at the Tonsley Innovation District and is already seeing major gains in productivity thanks to advanced machinery and smarter manufacturing processes.

They’re also working with Flinders University Factory of the Future to explore how AI can speed up testing and improve how products are developed.

It’s a great example of how businesses at Tonsley are growing, innovating and working together to push industry forward.
