The sun might finally come out today, but we still need to be diligent about flood levels and keeping safe. There have been concerns in the community about flooding in and around the lower Clarence. This chart is to show you that we are currently a long way from nearing our levee walls in and around Grafton, Ulmarra and Maclean. We will keep you up to date with any changes.

Current forecast from BOM are:
Grafton – 6.2m this evening
Ulmarra – 4.75m this evening
Maclean – 2.35m this evening

What we know…
• The Clarence Valley is currently experiencing impacts and localised flooding as a result of the current weather conditions.
• Yamba Road is currently closed due to flood and coinciding high tide
• Councils advice is based on the forecast information as issued by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and flood bulletins issued by the State Emergency Service (SES).

What are we doing…
• Yamba Road has traffic controls in place
• Council crews will be undertaking inspections to monitor the situation
• Council crews are out closing roads, removing debris and repairing damage

What we don’t know …
• The level of rainfall in the upper catchment is unknown and will have an effect on the lower river communities over the coming 48 hours.
• Mother nature decides how much rain will fall. We do not know if this will vary from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) forecasting advice.

What do we want you to do…
• Do not enter flood waters. Unpredictable currents and submerged hazards can be very dangerous.
• Stay away from drains, culverts and water that is more than knee-deep.
• Avoid unnecessary travel.
