📅 The 2026-27 Fire Danger Season dates have now been announced for the Yorke Peninsula and the Mid North, with both districts starting on 1 November 2026 and concluding on 30 April, in line with last season.

Dates for the remaining Fire Ban Districts will be announced in the coming weeks, after further local consultation with the relevant Bushfire Management Committees.

With bushfire risk increasing across South Australia, we’re urging everyone to take it seriously and start preparing. Now is the time to clean up your property and create your 5 Minute Bushfire Plan.

Stronger together: Women leading resilience 🚒💜

This Australasian Women in Emergency Services Day, we’re celebrating Nicole, Captain of Clare CFS, and all of the incredible women who help strengthen our service and build more resilient communities.

Nicole’s CFS journey began when her father served with Evanston Gardens CFS in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Years later, when her son expressed an interest in joining, Nicole was encouraged to join as well.

From being voted in as Horrocks Group Training Coordinator in 2022 to becoming Clare Brigade Captain in 2023, Nicole continues to challenge herself, develop her skills and support those around her.

For Nicole, one of the most rewarding parts of volunteering is being part of a dynamic team of people from all walks of life who have become a huge part of her life.

Her advice to anyone thinking about joining CFS? “Give it a crack”, you might be surprised by what you discover you’re capable of.

Today, we celebrate Nicole and all the women across the emergency services whose leadership, teamwork and dedication help build resilience in our communities. Together, we’re stronger. 💪

Test warnings and incidents will be going live across our social media accounts, websites and Alert SA. 🚨

These tests help ensure our emergency warning systems are working as they should, so please don’t be alarmed if you see them posted today.

Smokey is continuing his journey across the state to celebrate 50 years of the South Australian Country Fire Service.

This week, he is spending some time brushing up on his knowledge of the Spencer Gulf with his friend Shakka the Shark. 🦈

Smokey will stay here until a lucky someone finds him and takes him home.
