The intrepid scientists of Prep B at Childers State School headed off on a grand expedition last week, venturing deep into our very own school forest in search of living things. Armed with sharp eyes, curious minds and plenty of enthusiasm, they set out to discover who shares our little corner of the world.

Our young explorers uncovered an amazing variety of creatures. We spotted birds flitting through the trees, beautiful butterflies fluttering by, busy beetles, speedy lizards, and countless flying insects buzzing about. One particularly memorable discovery was a grasshopper with a broken leg, who became the focus of much scientific discussion and concern!

The wildlife sightings didn't stop there. We found a cane toad and confidently predicted it might be a good omen for the State of Origin. Sadly, the cane toad's powers of prediction weren't quite up to scratch this time! We also caught sight of our resident possum and even discovered kangaroo tracks, proving that our forest has plenty of visitors when we're not looking.

The Preppies loved investigating, observing and asking questions just like real scientists. It's amazing how much can be discovered when you slow down, look carefully and let your curiosity lead the way. Who knows what exciting discoveries our next expedition will bring?
