Bayside, Glen Eira and Kingston LLEN The Bayside, Glen Eira and Kingston Local Learning and Employment Network Contact us at [email protected]

The Bayside Glen Eira Kingston Local Learning and Employment Network (BGK LLEN) is part of a network of 31 Victorian LLENs funded by the Victorian State government to support continued strong pathways from school to further education and work for local young people. The funding supports the development of networks and partnerships to improve the participation, engagement, attainment and transition

outcomes of young people. Established in 2002, the pivotal role of the BGK LLEN is to act as a regional strategic and facilitation body by undertaking research, building relationships with local schools, businesses and industry groups and listening to the needs of our stakeholders. Our local and regional networks and partnerships enable us to support schools to engage, both geographically and by industry, with business and industry stakeholders. The BGK LLEN facilitates government contracts (currently DET’s LLEN contract and DHHS’ Engage contract) as well as fee for service project management, research, facilitation and professional learning.

STUDENT SUCCESS
Lina at Physio On Patterson
A work experience placement that delivered more insight than expected, Lina spent time observing consultations and gaining firsthand understanding of how physiotherapists support patients through recovery. The experience opened up awareness of different career pathways within physiotherapy, including specialist areas such as stroke rehabilitation.
While most of the time involved observation rather than hands-on participation, this in itself reflected the professional boundaries of clinical practice and offered a realistic view of the field. Overall, the experience was both informative and affirming, confirming an interest in pursuing physiotherapy as a future pathway.

Last week, we gathered at Sandringham Yacht Club for our Industry & Pathways Appreciation and Networking Breakfast. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the collective efforts of so many people at once — our hardworking pathways staff and the industry partners whose support makes student placements possible.
We were pleased to hear from Scott from Bentleigh Secondary College about the difference placements make for students, providing valuable insight into careers and helping build confidence for future pathways. We also heard from Wes from Bay Region Plumbing Pty Ltd , a longstanding supporter of this work whose commitment has created opportunities for students over many years.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the morning. We are grateful for the strong partnerships that continue to connect students with industry and meaningful career experiences.
This event was proudly sponsored by Australian Industry Group Apprentice & Trainee Centre
