Yesterday, Grace, Lilah, Davi, Tully, Quinn and Pippy had the exciting opportunity to attend the program FIA Girls on Track. We had an awesome day, and the girls enjoyed their new learning!
Our Facilitators had a wealth of motor sports knowledge and experience. To mention a few
Coral Taylor- 6-time world champ rally winner as an Australian rally co-driver.
Neil Bates- Throughout his career, Bates has been associated with Toyota in the Australian Rally Championship and for 19 years his
Neal Bates Motorsport outfit ran Toyota's official rally program in Australia.
Sophie Wisely - is an Associate Producer for the Wide World of Sports digital and editorial team.
Charlie Barlow- media/commentary Australia's most recognised motorsport presenters and corporate MCs, hosting the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix in front of 483,000 people and presenting across every major category of Australian motorsport.
Maisie Place (Moruya born)- race car driver, team owner and mechanic!
The workshops included:
Pit Stop / Reaction Times-Pit stop challenge, Tyre change simulator, Rattle gun activity, Drop stick reaction time test
STEM Workshop-Designing a car using iPads, Building and constructing a car with Lego, Racing the completed cars
Cars Workshop-Exploring the differences between race cars and rally cars, learning about pace notes and how information is relayed to drivers, Understanding the importance of teamwork in motorsport, Viewing and learning about the Radical SR3 RSX
Media Workshop-Experiencing the role of a pit lane reporter, developing creativity and communication skills, learning how to promote and market racing events and teams.
