We’re expecting damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall on Sunday as severe storms move across the state.

Storms are expected to develop across western NSW on Sunday morning and move east towards Sydney during the afternoon.

Further storms could affect Sydney overnight on Sunday and into Monday, before the severe weather risk shifts to the northeast coast where heavy rainfall could cause flash flooding next week.

Make sure you’re prepared and stay ahead of the storm.

🔸Tie down loose items in your yard
🔸Park undercover and away from trees or powerlines
🔸Clear your gutters of debris�🔸Keep clear of creeks and storm drains

📲 Ensure you monitor the Hazards Near Me app to stay across warnings.

🚫 If you come across a flooded road, turn around and find an alternative route. Flash flooding is dangerous and unpredictable.

Today is R U OK? Day, a reminder that a simple conversation can make a real difference.

As NSW SES volunteers, we spend our time looking out for others when they need us most. But it’s just as important that we look out for each other.

🚨 The long nights.
🚨 The difficult jobs.
🚨 The pressure of responding when others need help.
🚨 The things we see and experience along the way.

Sometimes, even the strongest people can have a tough time.

So today, check in with your mates, your family, your workmates and your fellow volunteers.

Ask: “Are you okay?”
Listen without judgement.
Encourage them to keep talking and seek support if they need it.
Check in again.

And remember, you don’t need to wait for R U OK? Day to have the conversation.

You never know what someone might be carrying behind the scenes. A conversation could be the thing that helps them feel a little less alone. 🧡
