Menzies HealthLAB We aim to increase awareness and knowledge in the community about the consequences of todays lifestyle choices on the immediate and long term personal health.

Menzies HealthLAB is a travelling health project with innovative, interactive, educational activities

SHELab is an initiative of Menzies HealthLAB, taking interactive health promotion to women and girls in regional, remote and very remote Australia The Menzies HealthLAB project is an innovative, interactive and educational travelling health program which measures biomedical risk factors for chron

ic diseases from a mobile laboratory. These measures like total fat percentage, blood pressure, smoke exposure, haemoglobin, ultrasound viewings of heart and kidney and education on the effects of diet and alcohol on the body are explained by the HealthLAB team. The Menzies HealthLAB team of scientists and health professionals directly engage with the public, with a focus on youth and Indigenous communities, to educate people about positive lifestyle choices and taking ownership of their health. Menzies HealthLAB visit rural remote and urban Northern Territory public spaces, schools and indigenous communities.

We had stations including:
🍎Nutrition Station: Bioimpedance machine, guess how much sugar is in the drink game.
🌸SHELab: Menopause myth busters spin the wheel game, breast check models, osteoporosis information, self-care.
🫁Healthy Lungs: Check you smoke exposure, tar in the jar.

We had a fabulous time at the Annual Stars Basketball Gala Day in Darwin last month! Thank you for having us, we had a lot of fun delivering health promotion!

The stations we ran included:
-Exercise: Test your strength and fitness
-Alcohol station: Say no to underage drinking and drink responsibly
-Healthy Lungs: be smoke and v**e free
-SHELab: Emotional wellbeing, menstruation and contraception education

A massive thank you to the CDU Radicle Centre and Casuarina Library for inviting us to be part of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science event!

The HealthLAB and SHELab teams had a fantastic time running our stall, with interactive activities focused on nutrition, exercise, va**ng and hydration. It was wonderful to connect with so many curious young minds and celebrate women and girls in science together.
