SHELab is an initiative of Menzies HealthLAB, taking interactive health promotion to women and girls in regional, remote and very remote Australia The Menzies HealthLAB project is an innovative, interactive and educational travelling health program which measures biomedical risk factors for chron
ic diseases from a mobile laboratory. These measures like total fat percentage, blood pressure, smoke exposure, haemoglobin, ultrasound viewings of heart and kidney and education on the effects of diet and alcohol on the body are explained by the HealthLAB team. The Menzies HealthLAB team of scientists and health professionals directly engage with the public, with a focus on youth and Indigenous communities, to educate people about positive lifestyle choices and taking ownership of their health. Menzies HealthLAB visit rural remote and urban Northern Territory public spaces, schools and indigenous communities.
