The amazing housing banner, which the community has been slowly painting over the last few weeks, was finally assembled (from all it's little bits) for the first time today at the Housing For All rally and concert in Castlemaine. Thank you to all who contributed and for all the work organising!

Keep an eye out for it around town.

Key take home from the rally: we are a community who cares deeply about housing justice and who want real solutions from our governments.

Tag your contribution and tag someone you know contributed too.

Everyone deserves a safe, secure, and affordable place to call home. But right now, our housing system is failing everyday people.

What a great day at the Homes for all event today. What a great opportunity to listen, connect, and talk about how we can build a fairer community where everyone has a secure roof over their head.

Wildlife carers and rescuers do incredible volunteer work, rescuing native animals in our surrounding bushlands. This National Volunteer Week, I want to say a huge thank you to all the hardworking wildlife rescue volunteers who give their time, energy, and hearts to protect our native species. 💚

The Greens always stand up for our precious native wildlife in Parliament. We always fight to protect the environment and support the volunteers who care for it. 🌿

PS: never handle a bat! The bat included was handled by a trained and vaccinated rescuer.

Want to learn how you can get involved in wildlife rescue volunteers? Reach out to local groups to see how you can get involved.

Everyone deserves a safe, secure, and affordable place to call home. As the Greens candidate for Bendigo West, housing is one of my top priorities.

Join me tomorrow from midday at the 'Homes For All' rally and concert at St Mary's Hall (corner of Hargraves & Lyttleton Streets) in Castlemaine.

Let's stand together to demand real action on the housing crisis. I’ll be there to listen, connect, and discuss how we can build a fairer community where everyone has a roof over their head.

📅 When: Tomorrow from 12:00 PM
📍 Where: St Mary's Hall, Castlemaine

Come along for the speeches, stay for the live music, and let's get loud for housing justice. See you there! 💚🏡

Our town deserves vibrant, independent businesses and healthy neighborhoods, not corporate fast-food monopolies. 🍔❌

A massive multinational like McDonald’s doesn’t belong here. Allowing them to set up shop threatens the livelihood of our local cafes and retailers, and undermines our community’s commitment to public health. It is planned for right near Castlemaine Primary School, which sets up our future generation to be sick from obesity.

This isn't just about burgers—it’s about preserving the unique character of our town and keeping our local economy thriving. Already we have seen businesses closing due to the arrival of Woolworths. Corporate convenience should never outweigh the wellbeing of our community. Let’s stand together, and support our local independent traders.

Contact your local Councillor and send them a clear message: that Macca’s is not welcome here! We need to protect our town’s future, and Mount Alexander Shire Council can reject McDonald’s.

We’re taxing the ultra-rich corporations.

We’re not talking about the fish and chip shop down the street, or your uncle’s landscaping business.

We’re talking about the wealthiest businesses in the country: The big four banks, the coal and gas giants, and the gambling industry.

Together, they raked in more than 50 billion dollars in pure profit in the last year.

On an average Australian’s home-loan, the bank pockets $930 a month in profit.

These corporate treasure hoards are built off the backs of ordinary families.

Meanwhile, food banks are turning people away because demand is so high.

We can’t let this continue.

If we raise taxes on the big banks, the coal and gas giants, and the gambling industry, we could raise an additional 5 billion dollars a year.

We’d put that money back into the community to fund cost of living relief, like:
✅ Lower energy bills, powered by renewable energy.
✅ Permanently frequent and free public transport.
✅ Building more public housing.

Get involved in our campaign to ease the cost of living pressures for our community!

Greens members and supporters are warmly invited to a talking circle with Greens candidate Liza Shaw, councillor Lucas Maddock, and branch office bearers to discuss the future of organic waste processing in our shire.

With the Mount Alexander Shire Council soon to decide on a new processing model, we’d love you to join us for an informal chat to hear your thoughts and vision for green waste processing.

Labor MP Maree Edwards must have felt so ashamed listening to Sam Drummond from RIAC speaking at the ‘From Ableism to Allyship’ forum about Labor’s NDIS cuts! Apparently the number of people who will lose support is 3 times the population of Bendigo! Is this why Maree Edwards left early?

Greens are supporting the development of foundational state-based and adequately funded services which are designed by disabled people, recognise intersectionality, prioritise choice and control, and recognise that they benefit everyone in the community.

So happy to re-connect with Alex today- that’s twice in a month!

Alex Reimers is a proud q***r and disabled individual and a board member for CPSN a specialist support service for people with cerebal palsy and similar disabilities. Alex has also recently been writing for powerd media with a recent article on s*x, disability and community services advocating for more resources and awareness for those living with disability.

Labor is trying to use disabled people as a scapegoat to balance the budget by slashing vital NDIS funding.

Check out the link in the comments to find out how you
can get involved in this campaign.
