Standing with our community. Supporting where it counts. 💙
Over recent days, our Castlemaine SES volunteers have been quietly supporting operations linked to the fires in Harcourt and across our wider response area.
While our members may not have been on the frontline, they have been working behind the scenes in vital support roles, including staging area management, tree operations, lighting trailer deployments, field observations, and general ground support. These roles are critical to keeping emergency response running safely, efficiently, and sustainably.
We want to acknowledge the incredible work of our colleagues at the CFA (Country Fire Authority) and all agencies involved. Emergency response is always a team effort, and every role matters.
We also want to recognise the personal impact these fires have had on our own people. One of our SES members tragically lost his home in the fires. He is also a CFA volunteer and, with remarkable courage and selflessness, continued to fight the fire even as his own home was being lost. This is the spirit of service that defines our emergency services volunteers.
Most importantly, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to everyone who has lost homes, property, livestock, or a sense of safety as a result of these fires. Our thoughts are with you during this incredibly difficult time.
To our community: please know that your local Victoria State Emergency Service volunteers are here and ready to support when needed. Even when you don’t see us, we are still working for you.
