Wonthaggi LSC A life saving club full of friendly, family orientated community spirited and beach loving lifesavers. Moderation of comments occur a few times per day.

Serving and protecting the Cape Paterson Bay Beach and the surrounding Wonthaggi community since 1938 Wonthaggi LSC will not tolerate inappropriate or defamatory comments of any nature. Comments found violating LSV and WLSC's code of conduct and social media guidelines will be deleted. These comments will be deleted when a moderator is available.

As National Volunteer Week comes to a close, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to every member, volunteer and local who gives their time to Wonthaggi Life Saving Club and our wider community.

From patrollers, trainers, age managers, water safety, kiosk volunteers, BBQ helpers, committee members and those working behind the scenes, your time, energy and commitment are what make our club possible.

This week is also about recognising the incredible volunteers across schools, sporting clubs, emergency services, community groups and local organisations who help keep our town connected, supported and thriving.

Volunteers are the heart of communities like ours. The people who show up, lend a hand and make a difference without asking for anything in return.

To every volunteer, thank you. Our community is stronger because of you.

From nippers and club programs to community events, fundraisers and special days, our BBQ helpers are always there firing up the BBQ, serving smiles and helping bring people together.

More than just cooking a snag, these volunteers create connection, support our programs and help make so many club activities possible.

Today we’re recognising the incredible volunteers who keep our kiosk running.

From behind the scenes prep and stocking to making coffees, serving members and visitors, and keeping things moving on busy beach days, our kiosk volunteers play a huge role in Wonthaggi Life Saving Club.

The kiosk is more than just coffee and treats. It’s a place where our community connects, catches up and comes together, while also helping support our club programs and activities.

From supporting our nippers each week to assisting at club events, school programs and community activities, these volunteers play a vital role in creating safe, fun and positive experiences for so many young people and families.

Today we recognise and thank the incredible trainers who help shape the future of Wonthaggi Life Saving Club.

Through countless volunteer hours, our trainers deliver a range of lifesaving qualifications for both our members and the local community. From water safety education and first aid training to mentoring future patrollers and lifesavers, their knowledge, time and commitment make a lasting impact.

Today we recognise and thank our incredible patrol volunteers.

Throughout the summer season, our patrollers have dedicated hundreds of volunteer hours to keeping our beaches safe for everyone in the community. Rain, wind or sunshine, they give up their weekends and time with family to help protect others along our coastline.

From first aid responses and preventative actions to water rescues and public education, our patrol members are always ready to step up when needed most. Their commitment, teamwork and dedication play a vital role in saving lives and creating a safe environment for all beachgoers.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mums, grandparents, mother figures and caregivers in our Wonthaggi Life Saving Club community.

Thank you to those who keep our club going, from coffee shop volunteers and Age Managers to Nippers supporters, patrolling families and our competition community.

Lest We Forget.

Today we pause to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice and service of all Australians and New Zealanders who have served, and those who continue to serve.

On Anzac Day, we reflect on the values of mateship, resilience and service that continue to shape our communities.

Wonthaggi Life Saving Club proudly acknowledges the legacy of those who gave so much, and we pay our respects to all past and present servicemen and women.

Saltwater Sanctuary. A story of community, vision and determination.

Long before many of us made memories in the Cape Paterson rock pool, local volunteers were shaping this remarkable place by hand in the late 1950s and early 1960s, creating a safe place for generations to swim, gather and connect with the coast.

Many of those volunteers were members of our club, including Alan Birt, Annie Gilmour, Danny Carr and Jake Cargill, just to name a few, alongside so many other wonderful members and supporters whose legacy continues to be felt today. Their dedication helped create a much loved part of our community and remains a powerful reminder of what volunteers can achieve together.
