GREEEN!
One of the many benefits of burning off is the beauty that comes out from the ashes, just a mear 9 days after our roadside burn the other week the native grass springs to life as the weeds still lay burnt to a crisp. And no doubt since the rain we have had more recently the grass will continue to flourish 👌

This right here is a prime example of a perfect fire break.

Ryans road - Cape clear.
Burned this sunday the 15th of feb

A fire break like this and not to mention this wide is what communities and towns rely on and could very well be the difference in saving the town and those who live in the area vs complete devastation and loss of life if the worst was to happen.

Again a massive thankyou to all the members across all brigades and HVP who made this possible and the personal on the ground you executed one mighty fine looking road side fire break burn 🙌💪

TOMORROWS FIRE DANGER

🔥TOTAL FIRE BAN DECLARED🔥

Tuesday the 17th of February is sadly yet again going to be a day of concern. With 30-35 degree temperatures and strong north easterly winds gusting to 45kmh before changing to west south westerly with a fire danger index of now 80 (this is in the top end of the *extreme* fire danger rating category) There is also a chance of thunderstroms in the afternoon and evening bringing the risk of potential dry lightning/ lightning igniting fires.

So we yet again please ask to have your fire plans ready.

Check any and all old burn piles (even ones from 6 months ago)

If you live in a fire danger area its allways best to leave early.

The fuel loads in our countryside ARE STILL extremely dry and volatile more so then recent years by a long shot. Meaning any fires that start can and most likely will grow/spread very quickly with or without strong wind.

Stay prepared, stay safe and stay alive

This comes on today being the anniversary of the tragic ASH WEDNESDAY FIRES that saw 180+ fires across the state over 2000 homes destroyed 1.3million acres burnt and 75 people tragically perished during this nightmare day, 17 of those were fire fighters from cfa and cfs.

We will allways remember and we will never forget.
R.I.P to the fallen our hearts thoughts and prayers continue to be with all that were effected on this day 43 years ago.

SUCCESSFUL DAY
Yesterday saw local brigades from Rokewood Junction, Haddon, Smythesdale, Wallinduc and Linton along with HVP and traffic control band together to do roadside planned burns around the community. These burns are a necessary undertaking to improve the safety for our communities and provide essential fire breaks if the worst was to happen.

We would also like to give a HUGE shout out to Donna and paul for whats been reported as the best spread ever put on for our volunteers 💪 hitting the absolute spot 👌

TOTAL FIRE BAN

Due to 30 degree temperatures and strong winds gusting to 70kmh tomorrow Wednesday the 11th of February has been declared a total fire ban for the majority of the state including central (our area) there is a slight chance of storms/rain later in the day 🤞

We do however as allways ask everyone to adhere to the total fire ban and keep common sense in your pocket! If you think it might be a risk then theres your answer! Its a risk.

Stay safe, be safe and stay alive

BLACK SATURDAY
17 years on
We remember.
February 7th 2009

We would like to take this moment in history to remember the 173 people who tragically lost their lives during black saturday and the thousands of people/families heavily impacted by what would be the most devastating fire Australia has seen.

We would also like to yet again thank all the amazing heros from all walks of life who stepped up helped when they were needed. From the fellow fire fighters, ses, police, military, paramedics, relief centre volunteers, animal rescue centres, Community volunteers the list goes on. The country in the face of heartbreak and tragedy went above and beyound to help where they could and when they could. We still appreciate and we still remember the sacrifices everyone made just to help in any way possible

❤️We will never forget and we will allways remember ❤️

MARRGG THE RAINS ARE EEREE!!!!
I think everyone will believe it when we see it
BUT given the fact this year we have had 0.8mm recorded for the year so far. 73% less rain then the average record since 1961 apparently 😐.
We welcome tomorrow sunday the 8th of February being forecast for up to 10mm + over a fair chunk of the state including us!

With this rain will come possible thunderstroms so please keep your eyes peeled as the potential for lightning strikes to kick off fires with our countryside being extremely dehydrated so to speak is still high!

Fingers crossed this rain will water the gardens and fill our tanks and break this dry weather high fire danger marathon we have been having.

As allways
Stay safe, stay alive and be prepared 🙏

Oh and do a rain dance 💃 we will try anything at this point 🫡

TOTAL FIRE BAN

tomorrow the 4/02/2026 has been declared a total fire ban for our region (central)
With low to mid 30° temps and strong 30-50kmh winds starting north easterly turning north westerly to westerly/west south westerly by late afternoon threwout our central district.
Our region is also in the EXTREME fire danger rating with very low relative humidity (low RH significantly increases the chance of a fast spreading fire due to less moisture in the fuel load and air)

Please adhere to this! To often fires in unexpected areas start due to negligence around total fire ban days.

It is also highly recommended not to slash, mow, use angle grinders or other tools/machinery that can create heat and or sparks. Eg the exhaust on a motorbike, car or quad/buggy are also common ways that fires start.

Stay safe and stay ready!
