This is what community looks like. ❤️

A room full of people who give their time, back local businesses, support their neighbours and make Redlands a better place to live.

It was a privilege to stand alongside the Members for Capalaba and Oodgeroo to celebrate the winners and finalists of the Best of the Redlands Awards.

Every person in this photo has made a positive contribution to our community, and together they represent the very best of Redlands.

Congratulations to all our finalists and winners. We’re lucky to have you. 👏🏆

Retained Reflexes.

At Honoured, we have had so many conversations recently about retained reflexes, so I wanted to share Dr Dana Johnson as an awesome resource for families.

This particular video explores the role that retained primitive reflexes may play in movement, emotional regulation, sensory processing, attention, coordination, posture, and learning.

As a social enterprise gym supporting young people, and families, we know that meaningful support starts with understanding. Too often society focuses on changing the child, rather than understanding what their body and nervous system may be experiencing, so we wanted to help you understand.

At Honoured, our programs are built around the belief that every young person deserves to feel safe, capable, included, and successful. Whether we're supporting a child to build strength, confidence, coordination, emotional regulation, social connection, or simply to feel like they belong, we recognise that behaviour is often a reflection of underlying needs, not character flaws.

This video provides valuable insights into:-Why some children struggle to sit still-Why sensory overwhelm can happen so quickly-Why emotional regulation can be so challenging-How retained reflexes may impact movement, balance, coordination, learning, and attention-Practical strategies families can implement at home too

For many families, understanding the ‘why’ behind the behaviour is the first step toward starting to ask ‘What is this child experiencing?’

-Watch the video.-Tell us what you think.-Share it with another parent, educator, therapist, coach, who believes every child deserves to be understood.

If your autistic child seems constantly anxious, dysregulated, unable to sit still, sensitive to sound or touch, or stuck in fight-or-flight mode… this video...

Look past my Nike side table…….my Friday Fail! The life of a Personal Trainer, Social Enterprise and Charity founder, and Mum of 7… 🤦‍♀️

This morning started like most mornings in our house… chaos, coffee, and trying to get everyone where they need to be.

After getting dressed in the dark, with a little help from some of the kids who were tasked with finding Mum’s shoes from the pile of approximately one million white sneakers, I rushed out the door to start my first PT session of the day.

Halfway through the session I looked down and realised…

👟 One shoe.
👟 A completely different shoe.

Apparently matching shoes wasn’t on today’s priority list.

Between running a gym, leading a charity, supporting our incredible clients, raising seven amazing kids, managing school schedules, sports, appointments, meetings, and everything else life throws our way, sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself.

The reality behind every social media highlight reel is that most of us are simply doing our best. Some days we’re winning awards, changing lives, and ticking off goals.

Other days we’re rocking up to work looking like we’ve lost a battle with Mount White Kicks.

And honestly? Both versions are okay.

Here’s to the mums, dads, carers, business owners, shift workers, and everyone else juggling a million things at once. Keep showing up. Keep doing your best. And maybe double-check your shoes before leaving the house. 😂

From the Gym Floor to the Classroom, Nat signs off on our students assessments between sessions!

At Honoured, we’re passionate about creating real pathways for young people, not just through fitness, but through education, leadership and employment opportunities.

So far, we’ve supported 11 students through their Certificate III and Certificate IV in Fitness:

✅ 4 students have fully completed their qualifications
🔥 3 are almost finished (just do that final assessment already!!)
💪 4 more are smashing through their studies

Not bad for a program that can help students gain up to 8 QCE points, develop industry skills, build confidence, and even start their own fitness business before finishing school!

Our students aren’t just learning how to coach people in the gym, they’re learning about leadership, communication, business, health, wellbeing, and how to make a positive impact in their communities.

Whether your goal is:
Become a Personal Trainer
Coach athletes
Work in health and wellbeing
Start your own business
Gain valuable QCE points while still at school

We’ve got a pathway for you.

We are incredibly proud of every student who’s taken the leap to better themselves.

THIS WEEK AT HONOURHER 💖

This week our junior HonourHER girls absolutely smashed out the Nutbush… plank style! 💪🏻

Who knew one of the most iconic dance routines could become a core workout? Between the laughter, teamwork, determination and a few very shaky arms, the girls gave it everything they had!

These moments are what HonourHER is all about, building strong, confident young women in an environment where they can challenge themselves, support one another and have a heap of fun while doing it.

We’re not sure if Tina Turner ever imagined the Nutbush being done in a plank position, but our girls certainly made it happen! 🤩

So proud of this crew and the way they continue to step outside their comfort zones, encourage each other and give everything a go.

Who thinks the Nutbush Plank Challenge needs to make a comeback?

HUGE SHOUT OUT TO JAKE!

Just over three months ago, Jake walked through our doors with goals, dreams and a commitment to invest in himself.

This week we compared his body scan from when he first started to now, and the results speak for themselves. The gains he’s achieved are a direct reflection of the hard work, consistency and commitment he’s been putting in every single week.

What makes us most proud isn’t just the numbers on a scan, it’s watching a young person back themselves, show up when it gets tough, trust the process and keep chasing their goals.

Success leaves clues, and Jake is proving that when you combine effort, patience and determination, amazing things happen.

We are so proud of you.

This is only the beginning and we cannot wait to watch you continue to smash goals, build confidence and see where this journey takes you.

A huge thank you also to Ted and the team for their ongoing support in helping our young people access professional body scans. Having access to objective data helps our participants track their progress, celebrate their achievements and stay motivated on their health and wellbeing journey.

Partnerships like these create real opportunities for young people to see what they’re capable of and back themselves to achieve great things.

Keep showing up. Keep working hard. Keep believing in yourself.

Your future is bright.

Such an awesome round to get your tickets for!!!

POV:The Hangover movie, Honoured Style.

We take parental responsibilities pretty seriously here at Honoured… so if your kid needs to come to work, they come to work. No stress. No judgement. Just real life happening in real time 😂

Last night’s session had:
Teenage boys training hard
A baby doing quality control in the carrier
Coaches trying to count reps but running out of fingers 🤣
The YMCA plank style - Community doing what community does best

Honestly this photo sums us up perfectly. We’re not a polished “fitness influencer” gym. We’re a ‘Gen Pop’ space. For those who need a translation ‘Gen Pop’ is general population, like in The Hangover movie.
A place where families, young people and everyday humans are welcomed exactly as they are.

Also pretty sure this gorgeous little lady got more cuddles than Nora did 🐶 👀😂
