Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), a reminder that every older person deserves to live with dignity, respect, and safety. Elder abuse and neglect affect millions worldwide, often behind closed doors. Let’s stand together to raise awareness, support survivors, and advocate for stronger protections and care for older people in our communities. 💜

✨ Leadership Announcement at WCS ✨

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Kirsty Gillett as Chief Executive Officer of Whitsunday Counselling and Support.

As WCS continues to grow and evolve, we have transitioned to a CEO-led structure. We look forward to the next chapter under Kirsty’s leadership. Since joining us just under a year ago, Kirsty has embraced the values and mission of WCS. With a strong background in organisational leadership and a genuine passion for service to community, we are confident WCS will continue to thrive under her guidance.

At the same time, we extend our heartfelt thanks and farewell to Sharon Parker, who is stepping down after more than two years of dedicated service as Manager of Counselling Services. Sharon’s compassion, commitment, and leadership have left a lasting impact on our organisation and the community we serve. Sharon has left a lasting footprint at our organisation.

We are incredibly grateful for all that Sharon has contributed and wish her every success as she embarks on her next chapter following her relocation. 💙
