Looking after your health at work matters—today and for the future.

From 1 December 2026, new workplace exposure limits will apply to harmful airborne contaminants at your worksite – fumes, mist, gas, vapour or dust arising from chemicals or materials used in your operation.

Mine operators and site senior executives, now is the time to review your health risk assessments. You need to ensure your existing control measures continue to protect the health and safety of your workforce.

🫁 The air workers breathe shouldn't put their health at risk. Exposure to dust, fumes and hazardous chemicals can trigger serious asthma symptoms and attacks in the workplace.

Employers have a duty to manage airborne hazards and protect workers from preventable harm. Effective controls such as good ventilation and safe work practices can make a significant difference.

For many tradies, working on their own is just part of the job.

Whether it's a small fix, an early start or between site visits, effective communication and check-in arrangements are important controls for managing the risks.

If you're working alone:

✅ know who to contact in case of an emergency
✅ make sure someone knows where you're working
✅ check in regularly throughout the day
✅ stop and reassess if conditions become unsafe

If you're a business owner or supervisor, make sure workers who are on their own can be contacted and supported. Learn more 👉 https://ow.ly/vmnJ50ZGmwH
