Congratulations to Caroline Chisholm students Miller Brown, representing the Tuggeranong Vikings Basketball Club, and Flynn McMillan, representing the Southern Valley Spartans Basketball Club, who have both been selected to represent the Australian Capital Territory at the National School Sport Basketball Championships in Newcastle.
The week-long national tournament will bring together talented young basketballers, with selection trials proving highly competitive. Both competed against players aged 12 years and under from schools across the ACT.
Miller and Flynn drew on their experience representing Canberra in the NSW Junior Waratah League, a four-month competition throughout southern NSW during the first part of 2026. Their commitment to the sport, dedication to training, discipline and determination to improve every single day have helped them earn this incredible opportunity.
Representing the ACT on a national stage is a fantastic achievement and a testament to their hard work and passion for basketball.
Adding an extra special connection to this achievement, Miller and Flynn are also first cousins!
Good luck representing the ACT in Newcastle.

Chisholm Community – Heart Health Awareness

We’re sharing some important information from the Josh-4-Hearts Foundation about sudden cardiac arrest and heart screening for young people.
The Foundation provides information about heart screening for young athletes aged 12–18, as well as training and resources to help people understand the risks and know what to do.
Parents interested in screening for their child or a group of young athletes can register their interest, with the Foundation contacting families directly about the next steps.

🎭 SPAMALOT is finally here! 🎭

CCS students have been hard at work all week, rehearsing, refining, and bringing this hilarious musical to life.

Come along for knights, quests, singing, dancing, questionable medieval logic, and a suspicious amount of coconuts! 🥥⚔️🎶

Don't miss this fantastic production and the chance to support our talented students.

A simple question can make a big difference.

Across CCS, we're encouraging students, to check in with the people around them - not just on R U OK day, but every day!

For R U OK? Day, our students wrote messages of care, encouragement and connection on strips of paper, then linked them together into one long chain. Each link on its own is small, but together they show just how connected our CCS community is!

📢 All ACT public schools CLOSED between 8:30am and 10:30am on Thursday 24 September 2026 📢

The Australian Education Union has notified the Education Directorate that its members will take part in further protected industrial action. The next planned action is a 2-hour work stoppage next Thursday 24 September.

All ACT public schools, including specialist schools and preschools, will be CLOSED to students between 8:30am and 10:30am on Thursday 24 September 2026. The school day will commence at 10:30am.

The Education Directorate has decided to close schools to students during this time, in the interest of student and staff safety. There will be no onsite supervision during this time.

We acknowledge that school closures have significant impacts on families and these decisions are not taken lightly.

We are letting families know about this change as early as possible to help with forward planning. The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remains our highest priority.

REMINDER: Minimal supervision arrangements for ACT public schools and preschools,
9am-11am, Thursday 17 September

A reminder that all ACT public schools will be operating under minimal supervision arrangements from 9am to 11am on Thursday 17 September 2026.
Families may wish to keep their children at home during that time. Schools are not closed and supervision will be available for those that require it.

Schools will resume regular operations at 11am.
This is to support Australian Education Union members to attend a paid time meeting to consider the ACT Government’s pay and conditions offer.

Absence notifications: for families that keep their child home – you will still receive an absence notification from your school for the 2-hour period. You only need to respond to the notification if it is incorrect.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
