For CGS alumni Zach Bates, it has led straight to the top of Mount Panorama.

We are enormously proud to see Zach’s historic Bathurst qualifying performance celebrated by his family and the wider motorsport community.

School is out! In the blink of an eye (more than a few teary eyes, actually), at the end of Term 3, our 209 Year 12 students celebrated the end of their CGS journeys. From the powerful bonding of a First Nations smoking ceremony to the frenetic water fights, assemblies and a valedictory dinner students basked in moment after moment of memory-making. It all led to the traditional ‘walk-out’ through corridors of younger students, staff, and glowing parents. Amidst the backslaps, handshakes, hugs, bouquets of flowers, balloons, and yes, some sobbing too, came the realisation that new lives were dawning. Exams, anxious waits for results and acceptances lie ahead. So do gap years, and uncertainties of not knowing what to do next. Let’s pause for a moment and wish everyone the best of luck for exams and beyond. Thank you to every single student for what you brought to Canberra Grammar School. Be proud of what you have achieved. May the roads ahead be full of joy, good health and learning. Onwards! Forever onwards!

3D or not 3D? That is the question. As for the answer? Definitely 3D!
Congratulations to CGS Year 12 Design and Technology students Freddy and Henry whose Major Projects have been nominated for inclusion in SHAPE, an exhibition of outstanding HSC works in Sydney next March. Freddy designed L-flip, a 3D printed driver learner plate that is mounted inside a vehicle and can flip automatically, meaning there’s no more need for manually taking a plate on and off. Henry designed TerrariTeach, a 3D printed propagation kit that helps primary school students learn about growing plants. What brilliant ideas! Typically, nominated works earn 58/60 or above. Great work Freddy and Henry!

Term break hasn’t slowed our students down. The Snow Centre has been busy with students tackling past exams, writing up notes, working with tutors and teachers, and practising blurting: writing down everything they can recall on a topic, then checking it against their notes to find the gaps. This is part of our Senior Study Programme and Tailored Academic Support sessions for CGS students. An almighty thanks to Mr Dunkley, Director of Educational Opportunity, and Ms Muller, Enrichment and Scholarship Coordinator for making it happen.

We’re singing this from the rooftops!
Congratulations to Year 12 students Angus, Sarah, and Luca who’ve all been nominated for ENCORE, the yearly showcase that displays outstanding major works in music. About 5,500 students study music as an HSC subject, and just 60 or so are chosen for ENCORE. Wow. Just wow! This result shows the opportunities for HSC students to be recognised far beyond the classrooms and exam halls.

If you looked out the window yesterday and thought, 'what a lovely day to be outside!' — you would have been jealous of our Senior School students. ☀️

The music was blasting from the Reach for Nepal bake sale, the barbecue was busy, and House colours were everywhere. It was a beautiful day to be out on the oval, whether students were competing or cheering from the sidelines.

Our Year 12s were embellished with tutus and face paint for their final School sports carnival. They gave it the colour and spirit it deserved, and made the most of one more day together in the sunshine.

Well done to everyone who participated, and we look forward to the remainder of festivities in Week 10.

Ever wished that school taught magic? ✨📚

We are excited to announce that Award-winning Australian author, Will Kostakis, is coming to Canberra Grammar School to launch 'Otis Ottley and the School in the Sky' — his first novel written especially for middle-grade readers.

Will is one of Australia’s most celebrated authors for young people, with his novel 'We Could Be Something' winning the 2024 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Young Adult Literature. Now, he’s bringing students into an entirely new world with a story that finds magic in unexpected places.

Join us from 4:30pm - 5:30pm in the Senior School Library to meet Will, hear the story behind 'Otis Ottley and the School in the Sky' and celebrate its launch at Canberra Grammar School.

This event is presented in partnership with The Book Cow Bookshop.

This August the School went pink, and our community rallied behind the cause with extraordinary generosity, raising over $10,000 for National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) 🩷 Thanks for your support, your donations, the pink socks, swim caps, arm bands and ribbons. Thanks for the baking, the cheering, the community.

Our P&F Runners and Walkers Group made their own remarkable contribution, covering 56km across August, one kilometre for each of the 56 Australians diagnosed with breast cancer every single day and raising over $3,600.

Every dollar stands with the Australians affected by breast cancer and brings the goal of Zero Deaths that little bit closer.
