Some politicians are once again using trans people as political targets, with recent comments from Pauline Hanson at the National Press Club adding to a climate of fear and uncertainty for many in our communities.

When trans people are talked about in this way, it can be exhausting, painful, and deeply unsettling. If that’s how you’re feeling right now, you’re not alone.

Trans people have always been part of our communities and movements for equality, dignity, and safety.

We will continue to stand with trans people today, tomorrow, and always. πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ

Today is LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Day - it is all about helping to end violence and abuse within LGBTIQA+ communities by increasing visibility and understanding, and giving hope and courage to victims and survivors.

The right to live a life free from violence and abuse is a person’s most basic human right, but for many LGBTIQA+ people, this is not a reality.

Our friends at LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Foundation have lots of resources and information on supporting LGBTIQA+ victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse through awareness, education and breaking down barriers to accessing help. Please visit their page or visit their website.

β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ Today is IDAHOBIT β€” the International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination!

86% of LGBTQIA+ young people say just seeing someone wearing rainbow makes them feel safer.

We "go rainbow" every day, but today our rainbows are extra vibrant as our way to show support for the people in our communities, especially our young people, who are being denied safety, recognition and equality. We see you, we hear you, we love you! β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œ

πŸ–€πŸ©ΆπŸ€πŸ’œ Today is International Asexuality Day (IAD)! πŸ–€πŸ©ΆπŸ€πŸ’œ

IAD is about the ties that bind acespec (asexual spectrum) people across the world, and to us that means building on our relationships with other advocacy groups, especially the smallest and newest groups in our region, and using our membership base to highlight what they do and draw attention to the issues they face.

The four themes of IAD are:

πŸ–€ Advocacy
🩢 Celebration
🀍 Education
πŸ’œ Solidarity

These themes highlight the aims of recognising and enabling the work that the international ace community and organisations do, particularly in non-Western and/or non-English speaking countries.
