We are proud to support German-Australian exchange in the literary sector and to help foster connections between voices, ideas and cultural institutions across continents.

That is why we were delighted to support Rosemarie Milsom, Director of Adelaide Writers' Week and founder of the Newcastle Writers Festival, in joining international festival organisers and literature professionals from around the world at the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin (LCB).

The gathering brought together representatives from literary festivals and organisations in New York, Nairobi, Ljubljana, Kyiv, Kraków, Saint-Malo, Berlin and Adelaide, creating space for dialogue, exchange and future collaboration.

🇩🇪🚀 Germany just made space history!

German Isar Aerospace has successfully launched its SPECTRUM rocket from Andøya Spaceport in Norway, becoming the first European commercial space company to deliver satellites into orbit. 🛰️🌍

Chancellor Merz congratulated the German company, stating that the first successful orbital launch from the European continent marks the beginning of a new era. 🔭

Thanks Qantas for the Hamburg shout-out 🦺 ✈️🤓

Qantas latest safety video features a special connection to the 🇩🇪 Hanseatic city at the 2:25min mark. Their brand-new Airbus A321XLRs are assembled at Airbus’ site in Hamburg before taking to the skies across Australia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands. 🌏

🇩🇪🤝🇳🇵 German support for rescue and relief efforts in Nepal.

Our thoughts are with the many victims, those still missing, their families and all communities affected by the devastating flash floods. We are also thinking of the Australian citizens who remain unaccounted for and hope for their safe return. 🇦🇺

German support for rescue and relief efforts is underway. Germany is co-funding the EU’s €2 million in emergency humanitarian assistance and supporting relief efforts through the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF).

German NGOs are also working through local networks to provide food, clean drinking water, medicines and emergency shelter where help is needed most.

Germany stands ready to provide further assistance together with international partners. 🇩🇪🤝🇳🇵

🇩🇪 Successful ballistic missile test by the German Navy – a sign of stronger deterrence! 💪 🚀

A F125-class frigate of the German Navy successfully test-fired a ballistic missile in the North Atlantic. The test marks a significant step in introducing new long-range capabilities and strengthens the Navy’s contribution to deterrence. The Chief of the German Navy, Vice Admiral Jan Christian Kaack, states:

“With the successful firing of a ballistic missile last night in the North Atlantic, we have made naval history. I am highly satisfied with this achievement. The system can be successfully employed by our units, and its potential range exceeds anything we have known before. To protect Germany and our allies, this trial marks a new chapter in deterrence and defence readiness at sea.” 🌊 ⚓

From Dresden to the world: Europe is building the future of semiconductors 🇩🇪🇪🇺

Did you know that Europe’s largest semiconductor cluster is located in Saxony, Eastern Germany? Around Dresden, companies, suppliers and research institutions are working together to develop the chips that power tomorrow’s technologies. 🔬

A key example is Infineon Technologies AG new Smart Power Fab — a €5 billion (approx. AUD 8.2 billion) investment and one of Europe’s most advanced semiconductor facilities. 🏭 It will produce power semiconductors for electric mobility, renewable energy, data centres and modern industry.

As Europe strengthens its semiconductor resilience through the European Chips Act, Germany is playing a central role in building secure and innovative supply chains. 🇪🇺
