Two years on from the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Su***de Final Report, we reflect on the courage of those who shared their experiences and helped shape a better future for Defence.

Their lived experiences continue to lead to improvements, from enhanced su***de prevention and mental health initiatives to stronger protections against sexual violence and improved support for families.

While important progress has been made, there is more work to do. Defence remains committed to delivering meaningful and enduring reform that improves the health, wellbeing and safety of our people and their families.

What's on the menu? A lot has changed in over 70 years of ration packs.

1955: Raisins, hard biscuits and tinned meals. These British-issue ration packs were later replaced with ones of Australian manufacture.

1970: Packets of dried food and other items from the C ration pack that Australian soldiers took on operations.

2013: Noodles, muesli and chocolate on display during Exercise Boss Lift.

Current day: Instant mashed potatoes, muesli with milk powder, and peaches. Modern ration packs present greater variety, nutrition and convenience.

Service demands sacrifice from members and families alike. To all fathers across Defence, wherever you are: Happy Father’s Day.
