With cooler weather settling in, the 2025β26 Recreational Season has now closed. While most of us are swapping swims for scarves, we know there are still a few hardy Canberrans willing to dip a toe (or more!) into the lake in the depths of winter. βοΈ
The good news is water quality testing now continues year-round! At the end of every week weβll upload the latest water quality results so you can remain updated on conditions.
If youβre heading out on or near the water, please take extra care and remember:
π‘οΈ Water temperatures are dropping, increasing the risk of cold shock
π«οΈ Foggy mornings are more common, reducing visibility
π‘ Make sure youβre visible and use appropriate lighting when swimming, paddling, rowing or boating β whatever your chosen lake activity may be.
Staying safe means you can keep enjoying the lake all year round β no matter how chilly it gets!
In this weekβs water quality results there are a number of sites closed due to extreme levels of Blue-Green Algae or elevated bacteria. They are:
π Central and West Basins
π Lotus Bay
π Yarralumla Bay and Yarralumla Beach.
