Public transport users can still save money until 30 June 2026 across Transport Canberra bus and light rail services.
Monthly caps have been temporarily reduced to help ease cost of living pressures and support households impacted by rising fuel costs. Once you reach the cap, travel is free for the rest of the month on all bus and light rail services.
This means:
• MyWay+ adult fare passengers: Cap reduced from 40 to 20 trips.
• MyWay+ students fares: Cap reduced from 30 to 15 trips.
• MyWay+ tertiary student fares: Cap reduced to 15 trips.
• MyWay+ other concessions: Cap reduced from 40 to 20 trips.
Remember to tap on and tap off for every journey and to get the full savings use the same payment method throughout the month.
This can be your preferred method of payment: MyWay+ card, credit card or eftpos debit card.

Did you know that more than 90% of Transport Canberra buses are equipped with bike racks?

Bike racks on buses each hold 2 bicycles with a maximum weight of 25 kg per bike, and are available on a first come, first served basis.

For safety reasons, both wheels must be fully inserted and fixed within the designated rack slots and both wheels must be in contact with the base plate.

Remember, to fit safely and securely in the rack, your bike needs to have:
• a wheel diameter of 510 mm (20”) to 736 mm (29”)
• a maximum tyre width of 58mm (2.3”)
• a maximum wheelbase of 1120 mm (44”)

Only bicycles that have two wheels and a single seat can be used on the bike rack.

There will be no light rail services from the first service on Saturday 4 July to the last service on Sunday 5 July 2026 due to critical construction works for Light Rail Stage 2A.

🚌 Rail replacement buses will be operating in both directions along the entire light rail corridor between Alinga Street and Gungahlin Place during this time.

🚶There are no impacts to regular bus services or diversions in the City for the duration of the works, with buses still be able to cross Northbourne Avenue at Alinga Street. There are no changes to the City Interchange or to the platform layout for the duration of the works. However, customers are encouraged to allow extra time to travel during this period.

Timetables for July bus network improvements are here!

Improvements to the bus network begin from Monday 20 July and have been made thanks to stabilised traffic conditions after a period of extensive monitoring and analysis of the road network.

The improvements to the bus network include:

✅The return of Rapid 2 and Rapid 3 services to west Belconnen
✅ Increased frequency for Rapid 4 and 5 services to and from Canberra’s south
✅ Increased frequency for Rapid 6 services to and from Woden
✅ Updates to selected local routes and school services

As always, students, parents and carers preparing for school term 3 are asked to view and download the information packs and timetables relevant to their child’s school ahead of time.

However, please be aware that the MyWay+ app and journey planner will be updated closer to 20 July.

🚨Important travel update for Whitlam and Denman Prospect residents.
Due to construction on the Molonglo River Bridge project, Coppins Crossing Road between Holborow Avenue and Hazel Hawke Avenue will be closed from 2am on Monday 15 June to 6pm on Wednesday 17 June.
Weather permitting, this may extend to 6pm Thursday 18 June 2026.
🚨Public transport changes:
• Route 47 will only service stops between Belconnen and Whitlam from first service on Monday 15 June to 6pm on Wednesday 17 June.
• There will be bus stop closures in Denman Prospect during this time.

🚨Alternative options:
• Rapid 10 services to the city and route 66 services to Woden will continue to service the Denman Prospect area.
• If you wish to travel from Whitlam to Denman Prospect, please travel to Belconnen via route 47, to Rapid 2, Rapid 3 or Rapid 4 to the city and then transfer to Rapid 10 services to reach Denman Prospect.

If your concession expires and your card is not registered, your fare will automatically revert to a full adult fare.

🚨Test alert in the Molonglo Valley at 10:30 am on Wednesday 10 June 2026.

If you’re travelling around the Molonglo Valley at 10:30 am, you may hear a loud sound alert from compatible mobile phones, tablets or smart watches and a AusAlert message may appear on your screen signalling a test.

This is only a test and no action is required.

AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

There are two levels of alert:
⚠️ Priority Alert
🚨 Critical Alert

So, what’s the difference? 🤔

⚠️ A priority alert is used when there is a high level of threat.
You can turn off notifications for Priority Alerts in your phone settings, and your device won't vibrate or make the sound if it is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.

🚨 A critical alert is the highest level of warning.
Your mobile device will vibrate and make a loud siren-like warning sound for about 10 seconds, even if it is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’. You can’t turn off Critical Alerts.

A Priority Alert test is scheduled at 10:30 am on Wednesday 10 June 2026 near Molonglo Emergency Services Station.

If you are in the test area, or neighbouring suburbs including Duffy, Wright, Coombs and Holder, your mobile devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and smart watches, may receive a test alert.

Public school students and families please listen up as this one is for you! 📣

All ACT public schools will be closed on Thursday 11 June for the entire school day for an Australian Education Union work stoppage.

There will be no onsite supervision available for students for the entire school day.

Transport Canberra will deliver our usual scheduled services on Thursday 11 June, including the published weekday timetable and dedicated school services.

Supported School Transport services for specialist schools will not operate on Thursday 11 June 2026. Families and carers of students who use these services can call the Support School Transport Team for any related enquiries.
