Volunteers form the heart of the Australian Maths Trust. For example, most of our problems are written by a highly talented group of volunteers (teachers, academics, people working in industry and so on). A team of volunteer moderators then checks the papers. If you have ever volunteered for us, THANK YOU!!! We so appreciate you!

It’s National Volunteer Week! In 2025, nearly 23% of the population volunteered through an organisation. This was similar to 2020 (25%) but down from 2019 (30%). Australians contributed an estimated 618 million hours of voluntary work in 2025.

As a teacher, what do you do if you don't know the answer to a maths problem? What about when you realise that a student is more capable in maths than you are? Our very own Emily Peterson will be presenting an online workshop on this topic as part of Gifted Awareness Week.
