The National Missing Persons Coordination Centre (NMPCC) is a non-operational arm of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and was established in 2006 to drive national coordination in response to missing persons in Australia, and to complement the investigative role of State and Territory police. Its mandate is to reduce the incidence and impact of missing persons in Australia. The NMPCC is the hos

t of the national register of long-term missing persons. As part of its mandate, the Centre also works to educate the Australian community and raise awareness of the issues and impacts of missing persons in Australia; particularly vulnerable groups at risk of going missing. This is done through campaigns and programs such as National Missing Persons Week, proactive media engagement, and education initiatives such as Day for Daniel (Morcombe).

Adam ran a business in Pattaya, Thailand and lived above the business. Adam kept in contact with his partner via Messenger and Facebook on a regular basis. His last Facebook post was 18 May 2024 and his last contact via Messenger was 1 June 2024.

Prior to Adam going missing, he closed his business down after threats of violence and told his partner his business relationships had gone sour and that he had conflict with associates and local Thai Police.

New national missing persons statistics for Australia have been released.

The latest data, compiled by the National Missing Persons Coordination Centre in collaboration with state and territory police, provides a snapshot of missing persons activity across Australia as of 31 December 2025. Data has been provided where possible by each jurisdiction; however, reporting processes may vary across states and territories.

In 2025:
• 49,084 missing persons reports were made to police, which translates to more than 130 reports every day
• 53% of people reported missing were female, and 47% were male
• As of 31 December 2025, there were 2,827 long-term missing persons recorded in Australia

Young people continue to be the most frequently reported missing, with those aged 13–17 accounting for more than half of all reports. While young people are more likely to be reported missing, they are also more likely to be located, with under-18s making up only 7% of long-term missing persons cases.

These statistics help build a national picture of who is most affected, emerging trends, and the ongoing reality of long-term missing persons cases across Australia.

Matthew Flint, aged 65, was last seen at Avery Street, Kirrawee at approximately 6.00am Thursday 20 March 2025. When he failed to return home and could not be contacted or located, officers were notified and commenced enquiries into his whereabouts. Family and police hold concerns for his welfare.

Matthew is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, medium build, with short grey hair. He was last seen wearing blue cargo pants, a white t-shirt, blue long sleeve cotton shirt, denim jacket and a black baseball-style hat. Matthew is known to frequent South Village Shopping Centre at Kirrawee.

Robert Dickie, aged 71, was last seen about 6pm on Tuesday 14 June 2016, when he left his home on Wattle Road, Elong Elong. He did not return as planned and was reported missing.

Robert was last seen wearing blue denim jeans and a red t-shirt. He has a large amount of tattoos covering his torso, arms and back.

Robert has not been seen or heard from since. His disappearance is out of character with his family and police holding fears for his safety and welfare.

Compiled in collaboration with state and territory police, the data highlights key trends, demographics, and the ongoing impact of missing persons on families, communities, and policing.

2025 missing persons statistics will be live on the National Missing Persons Coordination Centre website on 18 June 2026.

Not everyone feels safe speaking up when they have information about a crime and that’s why anonymity matters. Crime Stoppers Australia allows people to share information completely anonymously, without providing their name or personal details.

Many people hesitate to speak up for a number of reasons. This may be because they fear retaliation, workplace consequences, damaged relationships, community backlash, or being drawn into a formal police process. Others face cultural pressures, complex family dynamics, or genuine concerns for their personal safety. In some cases, the person with information lives nearby, knows those involved, or is part of the same social or professional circle.

Anonymous reporting removes these barriers.

Leslie Hinton went for a walk every morning about 8.30am. On 13 June 1995 Leslie left his home in his vehicle. He usually drove to locations near Lake Macquarie or local bushland to go for his walk. Leslie always returned home by lunchtime but on this occasion, he failed to return home. On 14 June 1995 Leslie's vehicle was located locked in the carpark at Warners Bay Shopping Centre.
