A big thank you to everyone who was involved in the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity Preparatory Group for ITU Plenipotentiary Conferences PP-26-5 in Brisbane.

Over 150 delegates from the Asia-Pacific came together to prepare regional positions and contributions for the International Telecommunication Union Plenipotentiary Conference to be held later this year.

Australia is committed to the ITU, demonstrated by our experience and reputation for bringing countries together. We listen to other Member States and the diversity of their views and we look forward to continuing to support the ITU’s efforts to promote open, accessible and inclusive global communications.

Applications are now open for the Community Radio Music Hubs grant which aims to support live music activities across the country.

Is your station an active music hub for your local community?

Applications are now open for the Community Radio Music Hubs grant - supporting high-intensity music stations to build on the work they're already doing to connect their local music communities.

Whether it's a live music showcase, studio event or youth music night - Community Radio Music Hubs grants support high-intensity music stations to create live, in-person music events and activities.

Eligible stations can apply for up to $50,000 to put on a minimum of six music activities, with support for project coordinators, artist fees, venue costs, local promotion and more.

They often pretend to be people you know, including friends and family, to gain your trust and get you to act quickly.

If you're unsure whether a message is genuine:

⚠️ Stop and think. Don’t rush to act.
🚫 Don’t reply and don’t click any links.
🔒 Never give any personal or financial details.

If you need to check whether a message is genuine, contact your friend or family member using the number you already have, not the number that sent the text.

Every scam affects more than one person. Family members, friends and colleagues can all feel the impact.

📢 Start spreading the news - new legislation to support Australian journalism has passed Parliament.

The new measures will support public interest journalism across Australia by encouraging digital platforms to reach commercial agreements with Australian news businesses for the news content they use.

📰 This includes journalism produced by smaller and regional publishers, helping communities continue to access trusted news and information.

Read how BetStop has helped tens of thousands of Australians since its launch 3 years ago ⬇️

Three years ago today, Australia took an important step in reducing gambling harm with the launch of BetStop, the National Self-Exclusion Register.

Since then, thousands of Australians have registered to step away from licensed online and telephone wagering services.
By the end of July 2026:

✅ 67,480 people have registered with BetStop
✅ 41,290 people have an active self-exclusion in place
✅ 78% of registrants are aged under 40
✅ 38% of registrants have chosen a lifetime self-exclusion

Every registration represents someone taking a positive step towards reducing gambling harm.

Thinking about taking a break from online betting?

BetStop makes it simple to self-exclude from all licensed online and telephone wagering providers in Australia through a single registration process.

From a minimum of 3 months up to a lifetime, you can choose an exclusion period that suits you.

While you are self-excluded, licensed online and telephone wagering providers must not allow you to place bets or open new betting accounts. They must also stop sending you direct marketing messages.
