📣EXCITING NEWS – A NEW CHAPTER FOR GOURMET GIFT HAMPERS TASMANIA 🎁

Many of you will know that alongside The Church Tasmania, we have also owned and operated Gourmet Gift Hampers Tasmania for the past two years.

After much consideration, we have SOLD the business to the lovely Claire Rechberger, who will now take over ownership and guide it into its next chapter.

Since opening The Church in December 2025, the growth, opportunities and demand have exceeded anything we could have imagined! The Church has become our sole focus, and we simply cannot devote the time and energy to both businesses that they each deserve.

This is very much a positive decision. The Church continues to grow rapidly, and we have some exciting plans and positive changes ahead that we look forward to sharing with you over the coming months...

We are incredibly proud of what Gourmet Gift Hampers Tasmania has achieved. It was built with a passion for supporting Tasmanian small businesses and showcasing their wonderful products to customers across Australia.

We sincerely thank everyone who supported the business, whether through supplying, purchases, recommendations, shares, likes, or simply by cheering us on.

We would love it if you could PLEASE CONTINUE SUPPORTING Gourmet Gift Hampers Tasmania under its NEW OWNERSHIP by heading over to their page, giving it a like, and following Claire's journey as she takes the business forward.

Please join us in welcoming Claire and wishing her every success.

Thank you, as always, for your incredible support of The Church Tasmania. We can't wait to show you what comes next 🥰

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stanley and Tarkine Tasmania

Stanley has always been one of our favourite places in Tasmania, and this weekend we had the pleasure of sharing it with Garry's brother and 82 yr old Mum, who were visiting from Queensland.

As always, Stanley did not disappoint.

Our weekend started at the Stanley-Hotel Tasmania, where we enjoyed a fantastic lunch. Thanks to the rain, we ended up staying for hours, enjoying great food, good conversation, a few drinks, a few games of pool, the warmth of the fire and many songs on the jukebox. A wonderful old pub with a great atmosphere.

We then checked into our cabin at BIG4 Tassie Getaway Parks Stanley. The location was excellent, right on the waterfront and within easy walking distance of everything. The cabin was clean, comfortable and very affordable.

Dinner was at Hursey Seafoods and it was outstanding. Between us we enjoyed crayfish, scallop and prawn pasta, seafood platters and fish and chips. The food was excellent and the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive and welcoming. They deserve a real pat on the back.

The next morning we discovered new business, Cafe on Church (on the main strip of Stanley, just up from the pub) for breakfast and coffee. Another fantastic find and well worth a visit.

From there it was time to explore Stanley, including a walk up The Nut. Master 16, meanwhile, decided to RUN to the top just for fun! It’s steep! The views from the summit were absolutely spectacular.

We also spent quite a bit of time at Highfield Historic Site, (located on the hill overlooking Stanley) exploring the beautifully restored homestead, outbuildings and grounds while learning more about the area's fascinating history.

On the way home we stopped in to visit our mate Jan at her property,
before a final stop at Kart Magic Entertainment Centre in Latrobe where the boys enjoyed a race around the track.

What a weekend.

Stanley and Tarkine Tasmania are truly special parts of Tasmania and places we will happily return to again and again. 10/10 all round.

👨🏻‍🎓MEET DR WAYNE GRAHAM

Many people see some of what happens at The Church, but there is also a great deal happening behind the scenes.

We are fortunate to have the support of Dr Wayne Graham – Garry’s brother, Jack’s Godfather, and my brother-in-law – who is currently visiting from “the mainland”.

Wayne is a Senior Lecturer in Management within a university School of Business and has an extensive background spanning higher education, vocational education, and local government.

Prior to his academic career, Wayne served as the Executive Officer of a large local council, giving him significant practical experience in leadership, governance, strategic planning, and organisational management.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, Wayne is intelligent, kind, caring, patient, generous, and an all-round great bloke. He is a deeply valued and much-loved person in our lives.

We are incredibly grateful that Wayne is willing to share some of his knowledge, experience, and expertise with us. He has been providing valuable guidance and advice on aspects of business management and planning as we continue to grow and develop The Church.

While visitors see the events, food, meetings, tours, and activities taking place, there is often a team of people contributing behind the scenes to help make it all possible.

We are very fortunate to have Wayne’s support and are delighted to have him spending some time with us here in Tasmania.

More broadly, we feel incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by so many good, positive and generous people who willingly share their knowledge, encouragement and support. The Church would not be what it is today without them.

❤️ Great Kids & the end of School Bus Driving 🚍

These beautiful handmade cards and chocolates were given to Garry today by some of the children from his school bus run.

What a credit these young people are to themselves, their parents, and the Campbell Town District High School community.

Today is Garry's last day driving the school bus — a job he genuinely loved. I have listened to countless stories about the funny things the kids said, the funnies, the friendships, the characters, and the little moments that made each day special. He was genuinely fond of them all.

Next week, Garry starts a full-time position as Service Supervisor at Midland Tractors in Longford. As many of you know, he is a qualified mechanic with more than 40 years' experience, both on the tools and in management roles.

While driving the school bus brought him a great deal of joy, he wanted to return to his skill-set, a team environment, a new challenge and we need the security of a full-time income.

Thankfully, he will still be very much involved at The Church after hours and on weekends (we both work seven days a week most weeks anyway! 😊).

I am also incredibly fortunate to now have two wonderful ladies helping me at The Church. They are kind, hardworking, fun, reliable and bring fantastic skills and support to our little family business. These days we're mostly an "all-girl crew" during the week!🩷

A heartfelt thank you to these thoughtful children, to their parents who are obviously doing a wonderful job, and to John and Jill Davis, owners of Midland Motors, who have been wonderful employers.

It's been an absolute pleasure and a chapter of our lives that we will always remember fondly.

And to the kids — thank you for your kindness. The cards, chocolates and thoughtful messages meant far more than you probably realise. 🚍😊

Good luck in your new role, Garry. We're all very proud of you. ❤️🚜

It's been 6 months since we opened our doors. That time has flown by and so much has happened in those 6 months. Est 1857. Closed for over 25 years, then re-opened December 2025. THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us, we are very grateful for your kindness and encouragement.

The article wording:
"Where heritage meets hospitality

SIX months after reopening its doors to the public, The Church Tasmania in Campbell Town has established itself as one of the region’s most unique heritage and hospitality destinations.

The 1857 sandstone church, which sat unused for more than 25 years, has undergone a remarkable transformation under the stewardship of owners Nicole and Garry Graham, who have worked
to preserve the building’s history while creating a vibrant venue for locals, businesses, community groups and visitors alike.

Since reopening last December, the former St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church has welcomed thousands of people through its doors.

What was once a silent and deteriorating historic building has become a busy hub for meetings, office hire, corporate training, weddings, regular international tour groups, Tasmanian day-trip groups, community gatherings, high teas, live music events, markets and heritage tourism.

Visitors are often surprised by the scale of the restoration work undertaken and the extensive historical research that now forms part of the experience. A continuously running slideshow featuring
more than 350 images and historical records tells the story of the church, Campbell Town, its Scottish heritage, and local history which helped shape the district.

The Church Tasmana’s growing calendar of events has played a significant role in its popularity. Monthly “Church on Sundays” combine live music, local market stalls, food and a relaxed family-friendly atmosphere, while themed events such as traditional
Scottish lunches, high teas and seasonal celebrations attract
strong interest and are held on the last Sunday of every month.

The venue is also becoming increasingly popular as a meeting and conference space. Businesses, government departments, schools and community organisations are choosing the heritage venue for professional gatherings, drawn by its combination of character, modern facilities and private garden setting.

The business has expanded further by introducing evening takeaway and delivery services for the local community. Pizzas and chicken wings have proven popular, often selling out. The ingredients are sourced from Tasmanian suppliers wherever possible, reflecting the owners’ commitment to supporting local producers and businesses.

The Church’s location in the heart of Tasmania places it within easy reach of most of the state’s population, making it an attractive destination for day visitors, coach tours and organised groups travelling the Midlands Highway.

Looking ahead, the coming months are shaping up to be some of the busiest since reopening. While no longer operating as a place of worship, the building once again serves the community by bringing people together to learn, celebrate, connect and share
experiences.

Imagine a teenage “I’m hungry” turning into me whipping up a late night family pizza feast and lunch for farm boy tomorrow!

The first photo was taken about 14 years ago. The second is the framed version that has hung on our wall for that 14 years.

Who would have thought that little boy would grow up to absolutely love farming, tractors and life on the land? From rural NSW to rural Tasmania. Looking back, the writing was on the wall - literally!

Garry and Jack have always been country boys in life and at heart, and I know they always will be. Simply being outdoors and rural life is in their blood.

As for me, I've had a foot in both worlds. My first home was in the centre of the city of Sydney, with an address on Day Street, Sydney 2000. In fact, my first home was demolished to make way for a road to increase traffic flow directly onto the Sydney Harbour Bridge. We then moved to Sydney's western suburbs, and throughout my policing career I worked in both Sydneys western suburbs and country NSW-VICTORIA border towns.

While I've experienced both city and country living, I've always had a special love of both individually. I can see the positives and negatives of both. There's something about the people, the lifestyle, the resilience and the sense of community that has always shined.

The writing was on the wall all along. 😊💕 We are VERY much a small family business, highly invested in ALL aspects.

Here's part of our story: https://thechurchtas.com.au/our-story-thechurch-tasmania/

📣 LOCALS – A Quick Update About Our Pick-Up or Delivery Menu 🍕

Our pizzas have become incredibly popular with locals, and we can't thank you enough for your support! ❤️

In fact, they've been so popular that we're trying to extend our takeaway days and hours as much as possible (without completely burning ourselves out! 😅).

We've also just added a delicious new menu item to complement our pizzas:

🍗 Tasmanian Nichols Chicken Wings served with your choice of homemade dipping sauces on the side.

As many of you know, The Church is first and foremost a venue for meetings, conferences, office hire, community events, functions, coach and group tours, weddings, wakes, and parties. Because of this, we always need to prioritise these bookings when planning our takeaway food availability.

For that reason, we don't usually post our weekly takeaway days & menus on this page. We now have more than 8,000 followers from across Tasmania, Australia, and overseas, so our takeaway updates are generally only relevant to local residents.

Instead, we share our takeaway menus and weekly availability on the Campbell Town Tasmania Community Sales & Information group page.

Please note that takeaway availability changes from week to week depending on our bookings, events, and other commitments.

To stay up to date with pizza nights, takeaway specials, chicken wings, and weekly availability, please follow our posts on the local community page 👉 https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1Fz9gcKmWp/

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 To celebrate The Church’s strong Scottish connections, we have a Scottish Lunch coming up on the 21st, and over the next couple of weeks I’ll be sharing some of the traditional Scottish dishes that will be featured on the menu.

Want to learn about The Church’s Scottish history and connections? I’ll be sharing those stories during the lunch too. 😊

First up is Rumbledethumps.

The Scots certainly have a knack for giving their dishes unusual names! England has Bubble and Squeak, Ireland has Colcannon, and Scotland has the wonderfully named Rumbledethumps.

This hearty, comforting dish combines mashed potatoes, vegetables and cheese, creating a delicious side dish that has been enjoyed in Scotland for generations. Originating in the Scottish Borders, it was traditionally a clever way to use up leftover vegetables and mashed potatoes, turning simple ingredients into something truly satisfying.

It’s wholesome, rustic, full of flavour, and exactly the sort of food that has kept Scottish families warm through many a cold winter.

If you’d like to try making it at home, here’s a recipe:

Or better still, come along and enjoy our Scottish Lunch on Sunday 21 June, where you’ll have the opportunity to sample a variety of traditional Scottish foods while enjoying the sounds of a live bagpiper. 🎶 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Bookings are essential:
