At approximately 0130 this morning, the brigade, along with Kangaroo Valley Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 405 Nowra, and Hazmat, was called to a hazmat job at Budgong.
Upon arrival, the brigade found a fuel tanker, fully loaded with fuel, had come to grief attempting to cross Budgong Creek, ripping open the side of the trailer on the rock shelf. When attempting the hairpin turn, it became bogged and, sadly, dropped thousands of liters of fuel into the waterways. After some hard work, all agencies were able to stop the leak.
Once the area was declared safe, RFS crews stood down and left the job with the EPA and Hazmat crews in charge of the scene.
