We had a great visit from the Caboolture Camera Club.
Scott Wanderer took these shots.

I think the one of Barrie is a classic and captures so much.

The one of the Cupola without the white is so vivid. Set against the sky such contrast.

Cheers
John

They show the 1942 electric rotating lens on test in Melbourne.
There is also a drawing of the 1896 lens from Chance Bros with the three wick Trinity burner

We have a lens of this type on display at the lighthouses

This is the view from our campsite at Broken Head. Interesting to see the Cape Bryan Lighthouse is now lit by a LED lamp.

It is the brightest of all lighthouses on the Australian coastline with the light visible 40 kilometres away. Initially the light was generated by burning kerosene on six wicks (145,000 candela). In 1914 this was changed to burning vaporised kerosene on a single mantle (545,000 candela), then to triple mantles in 1922 (1 million candela) then to an electrically powered 2250-watt bulb in 1959 (3 million candela), a 1000 watt quartz halogen light in 1976 and to an LED light in 2015.

We have an Open Day this Saturday 14th, but we have had to call it off due to the weather.

"The third Lightkeeper, Eric Harold Rapkins, commenced duty on the 21st September 1930, and remained until October 1934. His six children - Jacqueline, Prudence, John, Jim, Coral & Peter all attended school in Caloundra.

Prudence married John Deckhert, an American radar operator in Caloundra during WW2. They visited in 2005 and Prue sent these photos

Images show the automatic unit on Seapoint Units, Wickham Point, which replaced the Signal Station in 1992 (It has gone now, with new technology superseding it)

Also "gone now" is a hunk of concrete which I pulled of the Signal Station with my bare hands. At least it can't drop on anyone now. Rust never sleeps
