Last month, more of our team travelled to Cherbourg, a community with a deep and complex history. Today, Cherbourg is primarily home to people of the Wakka Wakka and Gubbi Gubbi Aboriginal language groups.
Experiencing the Ration Shed Museum tour was both powerful and deeply moving, leaving a lasting impression on those who attended.
One staff member reflected:
"Hearing the stories of the Domo boys and girls weighed heavily on my heart, yet I was deeply moved by the immense resilience they showed. The trip taught me a great deal about both the intended and unintended impacts of policy."
This was the Commission’s second visit to Cherbourg, and each visit continues to provide valuable insights that strengthen our understanding of history, culture and the ongoing impacts of policy.
We encourage other organisations to experience this important learning opportunity and book a tour through the Ration Shed Museum. https://ap1.hubs.ly/y0Ys7z0
