For over 30 years, Access Community Housing Company (ACHC) has been dedicated to addressing the housing requirements of low-income individuals and families in Cairns and the northern Queensland region. ACHC provides safe, secure, and affordable homes to enable opportunities for individuals and families to improve their lives and achieve their goals. ACHC manages several housing provider programs aimed at providing secure, affordable housing to families, individuals, and seniors (aged over 55).

🚌 Positive Ageing Expo! 🚌

Thanks to the support of the Kinetic Bus Service Grant, some of our senior tenants were able to attend Cairns Regional Council's Positive Ageing Expo and enjoy a day of connection, information and community.

Our tenants were incredibly grateful for the opportunity, with many sharing how much they enjoyed the experience and would love to attend similar events in the future.

A big thank you to Kinetic for helping make the day possible! 💙

Have you met Tim?

Hi, I'm Tim, Development Lead here at Access Community Housing. My role is to identify, develop and deliver new social and affordable housing across our region. I work closely with developers, consultants, local government, and the Queensland Government to help bring new housing projects from initial concept through to funding, design and ultimately construction and delivery.

It's an exciting time to be part of ACHC. With a strong development pipeline and a clear focus on the future, I believe we have a real opportunity to make a lasting difference across Far North Queensland. I'm proud to be part of a team that is helping create better outcomes for our communities.

🏆 Award-winning social housing in Far North Queensland 🏆

We’re proud to share that our Mulgrave Road development in Earlville has won the Social Housing Project category at the 2026 Master Builders Queensland Far North Queensland Housing& Construction Awards.

Delivered by Access Community Housing Company with $10.51 million in Queensland Government funding, the development has created 30 new social housing apartments – 20 one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom homes – in a well-connected Cairns location.

Accessibility was a key focus, with all 30 apartments designed to achieve Gold accessibility standards or higher, including four Platinum-level apartments.

The award recognises a genuine team effort, including builder/developer Keir Qld and our broader project partners.

Most importantly, 30 households now have safe, secure and accessible homes where they can build greater stability, independence and connection to their community.

The project will now progress for consideration at the Master Builders Queensland Housing & Construction Awards in October.

Congratulations to everyone involved, and thank you to the Queensland Government for its investment in much-needed social housing in Far North Queensland.
