โ—Essential safety information for people in Cooya Beach, Newell and Wonga Beach. โ—

On Tuesday, 16th June at 2pm, AusAlert will send a test emergency message to ALL compatible mobile devices in the area, including phones, tablets and watches.

Your device will vibrate and make a siren alarm sound for around 10 seconds.

This is a test specific to the local community in Cooya Beach, Newell and Wonga Beach. People within 15km of these townships may also receive the test alert. These are the only locations in QLD that will have this test on Tuesday. Other tests are happening across the country - details for these can be found on the AusAlerts website.

There will also be a national test on Monday 27th July. We will provide more information ahead of this test.

If you are someone that has a safe phone, you may want to take extra precautions and/or update your safety plan.

Your safest option to avoid the alert is to turn your device off or place it in aeroplane mode.

More information and advice is available on the DVConnect website via News.

They don't belittle your feelings or experiences. They consider your opinion even when they disagree. Your boundaries are honored without you having to fight for them. Decisions that affect both of you are made together. Your time is valued, not just their own. They speak about you positively to others.

For many people impacted by domestic and family violence, major sporting events like NRL Magic Round are anything but magical.

Between the high-stakes competition, increased alcohol and drug consumption, and gender stereotype pressures, major sporting events can be a time of heightened danger and stress.

Itโ€™s important to make sure our sporting culture does not encourage the disrespect of, or violence against, women โ€“ and it starts with junior sports.

All Queenslanders can take small simple actions to build a culture where everyone feels safe and respected. Information and support is available for those impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence.

If you, or someone you know is experiencing abuse โ€“ please reach out for support.

If you are in immediate danger โ€“ call Triple Zero (000) and ask for Police.
