West Busselton Primary School

West Busselton Primary School Welcome to the West Busselton Primary School official page. West Busselton Primary School is one of four public primary schools located in Busselton.

The school opened in the mid 1960’s and ties with the community are strong, with generations of families having attended the school. It is a linear style school located close to Geographe Bay in Busselton. The school grounds are a feature with large amounts of well shaded area due to the peppermint trees and well maintained gardens and lawns. The school enrolment has reflected the growth of the to

wn over the past decade and transportable buildings share the site with permanent classrooms. The proximity to Geographe Bay enables a strong beach theme to be embedded in the curriculum, including regular excursions. The school’s information and communication technology is well provided for with smart-boards and ipads being available to staff and students. Staff at the school are experienced and have typically been at the school for 5 years or more. The school’s staff regularly collaborate with other schools in special projects including sporting events, Retention and Participation programs, Transition to secondary school and training. The school has Kindergarten classes operating for 15 hours. Pre Primary to year seven classes operate five days per week. The school hosts a Dental Therapy Centre. Environmental responsibility is a priority for the school and is the focus of a number of programs. Music, Indonesian and Physical Education specialist teachers provide important programs within the school curriculum. Additionally, the speech and language development in the early years has been recognised as a highly successful program. Special extension programs for gifted and talented students are provided throughout the year. The school works closely with the P&C and has been well supported by this group. The School Board meets regularly and provides direction in a number of areas. The school enjoys strong community links and the ‘family’ spirit is often commented on by visitors. A close supportive relationship continues to exist between students, staff and parents. Staff and students work together co-operatively to create a positive school environment in which students feel safe and learn in a supportive and caring atmosphere. With the continued support of parents we are confident, that the partnership that exists between parents and the staff will continue to provide each individual child with a nurturing learning environment. Through our motto, “Believing in Achieving”, we aim to provide the best possible education for each child who attends our school, ensuring they develop a broad range of skills to enable them to take responsibility for their own direction and to adapt to a changing world.

On Friday night, the West Busselton Choir sang at the Bunbury Eisteddfod. The students were very excited to be performing at such an amazing venue and in front of all there family and friends. We were first on and as soon as we hit the green room the nerves started to set in for some of the students. With great resilience the students walked on and represented our school proudly. They sang with such joy and Mrs Harte was extremely proud of all of them. Mrs Harte would like to thank all the students for such an amazing job and all the parents, carers, grandparents and friends that came to support our wonderful choir. (FYI- video is blurred for student privacy- Sound works though :-)).

Staying connected helps us support your child in the best way possible.

Sharing what’s going well or what’s feeling tricky helps us work together and respond early if needed.

It’s easy to focus on what’s not working, but noticing what is going well can build confidence.

A simple acknowledgement of effort can help children feel proud and more motivated for the next day.

Often it’s the small things that make the biggest difference.

Confidence grows through small, everyday experiences.

Encouraging children to take each day as it comes can help them feel capable and ready to keep going, even when things feel a little challenging.

Often it’s the small things that make the biggest difference.

🎉 HAPPY P&C DAY! 🎉

Today we want to say a huge thank you to our incredible West Busselton Primary School P&C 💙

Behind the scenes, often without a lot of fanfare, this group of dedicated volunteers gives up countless hours to support our students, staff and wider school community. From fundraising and events to advocacy, support and helping create opportunities for our kids, their contribution to our school is enormous 🙌

Schools simply can’t thrive without strong community partnerships, and we’re very lucky at West to have a P&C that genuinely cares about making our school the best it can be 🌊

To all of our current and past P&C members, thank you for your time, energy, ideas and support. It never goes unnoticed and it is deeply appreciated by both staff and families alike 😊

If you see one of our P&C members around today, make sure you give them a well deserved thank you 👏
