BURWOOD SAFETY EXPO
On Saturday March 16, Burwood Fire Station attended the Burwood Safety Expo at Burwood Park. The multi-agency event, organised by Burwood Council was a huge success. The event which ran for 4 hours in Sydney's sunshine had hundreds of locals attend. Burwood Fire Station used Fire and Rescue's Kitchen Fire Simulator to demonstrate fire safety at home and to deliver key fire safety messages. A successful day and a great opportunity to get out and about in the local community.

Remember, a fire can take hold in three minutes. Keep fire safe at home by making sure you have working smoke alarms and an escape plan.

It’s a Total Fire Ban on Grand Final day, so what about barbecues?

✅ Electric barbecues can be used today
⛔️ Wood, charcoal or heat beads cannot be used today
⚠️ Gas barbecues can be used conditionally today

But… a gas barbecue must:

🫡 be supervised by a responsible adult at all times
🧹 be clear of all combustible material within 2m
💦 have a continuous supply of flowing water
🏠 be within 20m of a private dwelling
🧺 or in a designated picnic area

🔥 Remember you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open or carry out any activity in the open that causes or is likely to cause a fire.
