This morning, beneath a bright spring sky over the Victoria Police Memorial, the 2026 Wall to Wall - Ride for Remembrance began for Victorian riders.
Following a memorial service and wreath laying, riders set off on the annual journey that honours and remembers police members who have died while serving their communities.
Serving and retired Victoria Police members, along with supporters, will ride their motorcycles from the Victoria Police Memorial on St Kilda Road to the National Police Memorial in Canberra.
Joining them this year are Victoria Police legatees Julian (18) and Luka (15), who lost their father, John, in 2017.
"This journey is both a tribute to his service and a deeply personal expression of the love and pride his family continues to carry for him... every kilometre will be a connection to their Dad, to the life he lived, the values he upheld and the example he left behind. Though John can no longer ride beside them, his memory will travel with them on every road to Canberra and beyond," said their mother, Lisa.

Victoria Police Legacy is proud to support Julian, Luka and Lisa as they honour John's memory and legacy on this special ride.

We'll be cheering on Victoria Police legatee Abbey this Saturday 12 September as she takes on the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb!

An emergency services volunteer, Abbey will climb 28 floors of the Crown Metropol Melbourne and then make the journey back down, all while wearing 25kg of turnout gear and breathing apparatus. The challenge symbolises the physical and mental burdens carried by first responders and their families every day.

Abbey is also raising funds for Cancer Research and Crisis Support, making every step count for an incredibly important cause.

Go Abbey! Victoria Police Legacy is so proud of you. 💙

Yesterday, Victoria Police Legacy was honoured to attend the memorial service in Bright for Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim De Waart-Hottart, joining family, friends, colleagues and community members to reflect on their sacrifice and service.
It was a privilege to lay a wreath in recognition of their sacrifice, and to honour and remember all police members who have lost their lives in service.
At the Bright Police Station, VPL's Louise was pleased to connect with police legatee Iris Heydon, who also attended to pay her respects and honour the memory of her husband and those police members who have served and sacrificed.

We Will Remember Them.
