The horrific attack on Independent Federal MP Dr Helen Haines outside her electorate office in Wangaratta is extremely disturbing.

I am deeply saddened by the attack and extend my deepest sympathies to Helen, her husband Phil, her family and her staff during this unimaginably painful time.

This horrendous incident is absolutely devastating and a blight to the very fabric of our grassroots democracy. Violence, intimidation, and aggression against public officials have absolutely no place in our society.

I stand in solidarity with our Victorian neighbours, the people of Indi and the Wangaratta community. My thoughts are with Helen and her familiy and I extend upmost strength and best wishes to Helen as she remains in a critical condition. πŸ’”

Saturday 26 September | 9:45am to 11:45am.

Some of Australia's oldest road-going vehicles are heading to Wentworth.

The 2026 RACV Pre-05 Pioneers Rally will bring 28 historic vehicles to the region, all built before 1905. Entrants will travel from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, creating one of the largest gatherings of pioneer vehicles in Australia.

Don't miss the opportunity to see these rare vehicles up close at Strother Park, Wentworth (home of Big Yabbie "Herbie") from 9:45am to 11:45am on Saturday 26 September.

Owners will be available to answer questions and share the stories behind their vehicles, helping preserve an important part of motoring history for future generations.
