Here is what I have been up to over the last 2 weeks:
Tuesday 9th December - I attended the December Ordinary Council Meeting, which ran from 6:30pm to 11:27pm.
Thursday 11th December - I attended a Mindarie Regional Council (MRC) CEO Briefing and tour of Tamala Park Landfill Site as a newly-elected MRC Councillor.
Saturday 13th December - I attended a tour of Tamala Park Landfill Site which was arranged for MRC Member Council elected members. CoJ Mayor Daniel Kingston and CoJ Cr. Matthew Count also attended.
I also attended the 7 Wing Australian Air Force Cadets 723 Squadron Ceremonial Parade at the WA Police Academy. I am always impressed by the pride and discipline of the young people on parade and receiving awards, and by the commitment of the leadership group. I was privileged to present a number of awards, together with CoJ Mayor Daniel Kingston and Tom French MP
Tuesday 16th December - I attended Kinross College end of year assembly and presented a CoJ Student Citizenship Award.
I also attended the CoJ Special Council Meeting.
Wednesday 17th December - I attended Burns Beach Primary School Year 6 Graduation and presented 2 CoJ Student Citizenship Awards.
I also attended the CoJ Community End of Year function, together with my guests from Burns Beach Residents Association and Joondalup Brothers RUFC.
Thursday 18th December - I attended a WALGA waste management training session for newly-elected MRC Councillors.
I also attended the Mindarie Regional Council Meeting at City of Perth Council House.
That was the last of my official Council events for 2025!

I have finally managed to get my page Name updated, and last night was my last official Council engagement for 2025. Over the next few weeks I will post some updates on what I have been up to since the election. As you will be aware I was re-elected as North Ward Councillor, and my 2-year term as Deputy Mayor ended.
I was also elected by CoJ Council for a 2-year term as one of the 2 CoJ Elected Members on Mindarie Regional Council (MRC), which is responsible for managing the Tamala Park landfill site. During the election I advised that I would be advocating for MRC to take steps to fill and close the landfill site as soon as practical and to mitigate the odour issues.
Now that I am an MRC Councillor this gives me a genuine opportunity to undertake this advocacy and to influence MRC. I am one of twelve MRC Councillors, and will be engaging with all of the elected members, the MRC CEO and the CoJ Officers responsible for waste management. I will be seeking outcomes that are good for all parties, and in particular for the North Ward residents and Catalina/Clarkson residents that are affected by the odour issues.
I am pleased that following my request, CoJ administration has arranged for a presentation to CoJ elected members in January regarding MRC, Tamala Park and waste management issues.
I have made it clear to CoJ elected members that I will keep them informed regarding any significant matters arising from MRC.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for reading my posts, for following my page, and for your support during the election. Have a Merry Christmas and best wishes to all of you for a happy and prosperous 2026.

On Saturday my 2-year term as Deputy Mayor ended, and on Sunday I was declared re-elected as North Ward Councillor for a 4-year term. I will be sworn as a Councillor on Wednesday evening. I am grateful for the many opportunities that I had as Deputy Mayor, and for my re-election. Due to Facebook restrictions, I will only be able to update my page name in early-November.

I have been busy since my last regular update posted on 29th September. I will post about what I have been up to in a few days time, after the election caretaker period lapses. However, I would like to recognise that last night was the final City of Joondalup Council Meeting for Mayor Albert Jacob, and also my last official event as Deputy Mayor. It was great to see so many familiar faces attending the meeting to honour our outgoing Mayor. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work alongside Albert, especially as Deputy Mayor for the last 2 years, and I wish him and his family all the best for what the future holds. Voter turnout looks like it will end up at around 30% in North Ward. If you haven't voted yet, you can still do so by dropping off your completed ballot paper envelope at CoJ Administration building before 5pm on Friday or at Currambine Community Centre before 6pm on Saturday. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes as my 4-year term on Council reaches its end. I remain positive and optimistic regarding our great City, and I am keen to assist in making further progress if re-elected on Saturday.

I would like Kinross residents to be well-informed regarding the status of the proposed upgrades to MacNaughton Park clubrooms.

During the CoJ Ordinary Council Meeting on 29th April 2025 I moved a motion that presented the Option 1 project design and a project budget of $2,938,630. This motion was unanimously supported by Council.

It is also a matter of public record that on 22nd April 2025 Tracey Roberts - Federal Member for Pearce made a pre-election commitment to provide a Federal Government contribution of $2 million for this project.

I was unable to attend the opening event for Bloom as I was deputising at a Mindarie Regional Council meeting. Bloom has been getting great feedback and I look forward to checking it out in the coming days.
