Is it spring cleaning time for your household? Our free household chemical cleanout events are on this weekend!

At these events, residents can safely dispose of waste that cannot go into regular waste collection such as gas bottles, batteries, fluorescent globes and tubes, paint, motor oils, fuel and fluids.

The dates and locations are:
📅 Bungendore Household Chemical Cleanout, Saturday 12 September, 8am – 11am, Bungendore Waste Transfer Station
📅 Braidwood Household Chemical Cleanout, Saturday 12 September, 1pm – 4pm, Braidwood Waste Transfer Station
📅 Queanbeyan Household Chemical Cleanout, Sunday 13 September, 8am – 11am, Queanbeyan Waste Minimisation Centre.

Only waste below 20kg or 20L will be accepted. These are free services which are run in support with the NSW Environment Protection Authority.

Both councillor Wi******er and Councillor Livermore have served the community exceedingly well over the last term of their mayoral and deputy mayoral terms and I have no doubt that they will continue to do so over the next two year term.

The work tempo and commitment shown by both has been exemplary and their attendance at community functions, sporting events and meetings across the community and across the region has been equally impressive. How both of them weave this commitment around full-time work commitments is truly impressive.

They both, but particularly Councillor Wi******er in his role as Mayor, have helped the community and the council navigate through some difficult issues over the last term and have done so with a great deal of empathy and support for the community.

It is only fitting that they and the QPRC community have been given the opportunity to enjoy this leadership for the duration of the term of this council and beyond.

I congratulate them both on their re-election. QPRC is stronger for their leadership.

Very grateful to have been re-elected as Mayor of Queanbeyan-Palerang tonight, with the support of my fellow councillors in a 7–2 vote.

A big congratulations to Esma Livermore, who was also re-elected unopposed as Deputy Mayor.

It’s a privilege to represent our community and something I never take for granted.

Plenty to get on with, and I’m looking forward to continuing the work and getting things done for our community.

The national Aus Alert test will take place on Monday 27 July 2026 at 2:00 pm AEST.

AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

This is a planned test and you don’t need to do anything.

The message will vibrate and include a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds. If this could disrupt you or cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location, and leave them off for at least one hour.

So very heartwarming to see so many new Australians from so many countries and to participate in their special day.

Proud to have helped craft the motion passed by Council last night to preserve this mural that celebrates the life of Zomi Frankcom.

The resolution passed will help to protect this wonderful piece of public art in perpetuity and will encourage future councils to continue this work.
