Proud to have helped craft the motion passed by Council last night to preserve this mural that celebrates the life of Zomi Frankcom.

The resolution passed will help to protect this wonderful piece of public art in perpetuity and will encourage future councils to continue this work.

Reaching this outcome has been difficult for the Bungendore community and, while this decision provides certainty and a timeline that could not be achieved at the Majara Street site, it also gives the community an opportunity to reunite and support a school that will deliver the best outcomes for our students.
There are still a few years of disruption, particularly for the primary school students, and I hope that the whole Bungendore community will support our students as we await the opening of the new school in 2027.
I am pleased that this solution is now with us and I’m grateful to all of the Bungendore residents who have lobbied for a high school for the town for many decades.
I am grateful to the NSW Government, Prue Car MP and Steve Whan MP - Member for Monaro for their tireless efforts since inheriting this challenging situation nearly two years ago. I appreciate their efforts and their dedication to finding an outcome that gives Bungendore hope and optimism for a bright future for our students.
It’s now up to us, Bungendore, to unite behind this opportunity, heal the rifts this issue has caused and build back the beautiful community that we all love.

MEET BRYCE WILSON

Bryce Wilson is an experienced member of the current Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, and leader of the Labor Group seeking election on 14 September 2024.

Bryce has lived in Jerrabomberra with his wife and daughter for well over a decade. He has been an active member in the community serving as President of the Jerrabomberra Public School P&C and a former member of the Jerrabomberra Residents Association.

He is proud of his community and regularly enjoys the Saturday morning Park Run up Mount Jerrabomberra. Or taking his dogs for a walk up in the local reserve.

Bryce is a former science and maths high school teacher and surveying technician. He has held positions at various levels of government and, like so many in this region, is now working for the federal government.

His previous work experience drew him to get involved in local government where he felt he could make a difference to individuals and his community.

The Labor team has a proven track record of working hard to maintain services and deliver better infrastructure for the community.

The Council voting record is evidence the team has worked positively and constructively to repair the budget and ensure the future financial viability of Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council.

Some of the successes achieved with the support of Labor Councillors include:

✔️a regional sports hub in Bungendore

✔️ new change rooms at Freebody oval

✔️ greater access to the new Council building for community groups

✔️ additional road crews

✔️ additional staff to process development applications

✔️ extended pensioner rebate to all pensioners in QPRC

✔️ free pool entry for kids

✔️ more solar panels on Council buildings

✔️ new EV charging stations

✔️ and placing QPRC on the road to financial sustainability.

Bryce believes in progress at a local government level and is proud the Labor Group has a positive plan to build a better Queanbeyan-Palerang region.

The Labor group will continue to work with the community to keep rates and service charges fair, support local jobs and businesses, maintain Council services and drive progress.

While there is more to do, the Labor group is committed to being positive, progressive, inclusive and advancing reconciliation and climate action.

To build a better Queanbeyan-Palerang, Vote 1 Labor
