πŸ’› R U OK? DAY – Thursday 10 September πŸ’›

R U OK? Day is a reminder that a simple conversation can make a big difference.

Sometimes, the people around us might be going through something difficult without us knowing. Taking the time to ask, listen and check in can help someone feel supported and remind them that they are not alone. 🌻

Today, we encourage our school community to look out for one another and ask:

πŸ’¬ β€œAre you OK?”

And remember, asking is just the beginning. Take the time to listen, encourage connection and keep checking in.

πŸ’› A conversation could change a life.

πŸ“šπŸŒΏ Celebrating Indigenous Literacy Day! πŸŒΏπŸ“š
Last Wednesday, we celebrated the importance of language, culture and connection through stories as part of Indigenous Literacy Day.
A special thank you to the Land and Sea Rangers from Gidarjil Development Corporation and Tonia from Central Queensland Language Centre for generously donating wonderful books for our students to enjoy, including:
πŸ“– Taribelang Language Animals - Books 1, 2 & 3
πŸ“– My Biru Love to Clap – A Gooreng Gooreng Language Book
πŸ“– My Biruu Love to Clap – A Gurang Language Book
πŸ“– No Buru on the Bus – A Gooreng Gooreng Language Book
πŸ“– No Buu on the Bus – A Gurang Language Book
Our students had the opportunity to listen to stories being read in Gooreng Gooreng Language, explore traditional tools and materials, and learn more about First Nations languages and culture. The Gooreng Gooreng words "biru" means hands, and "buru" means kangaroo.
The day also included a much-loved book swap, where students could choose a book to take home and add to their own book collection β€” encouraging a love of reading and sharing stories with family. Thank you for the gold coin and online donations. We raised $54 for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a meaningful and memorable celebration.

πŸ“’ PBL Rule of the Week – Week 9

πŸ’™ Be Friendly – Help Your Peers πŸ’™

This week's PBL focus is Help Your Peers.

Helping others is a great way to show kindness and build a caring school community. Remember to:
⭐ Offer a helping hand when someone needs it.
⭐ Encourage your classmates to do their best.
⭐ Be patient and kind.
⭐ Share and take turns.
⭐ Ask an adult if someone needs extra support.

Every act of kindness makes a difference. Let's work together to help everyone feel supported, included, and valued.

πŸ’™ Happy Father’s Day from the Bundaberg Special School Community! πŸ’™

Today we celebrate and appreciate all the wonderful fathers and father figures in our school community. 🌟

To dads, stepdads, grandfathers, foster dads, adoptive dads, father figures, and those who fill a special dad role β€” thank you for the love, care, guidance and support you give every day.

We also recognise that Father’s Day can be a difficult day for some. We are thinking of those who have lost their dads, those who are missing someone special, and those whose family circumstances are different.

Wishing everyone in our Bundaberg Special School community a very happy Father’s Day! πŸ’™

We hope your day is filled with love, laughter and special moments with the people who matter most. 🌿✨
