The final goodbye
Demolition work has started at Anzac Pool to redevelop the site as a modern entertainment precinct with an adventure playground and zero-depth water play, a flexible outdoor event space and a memorial avenue commemorating the region’s service personnel.
The estimated $19 million project follows several decades of master planning to reinvigorate the area and improve links with the CBD.
A Federal Government grant of $5 million has been obtained.
Council has previously advised the ageing outmoded pool won't reopen and work needs to start now to avoid inflation increasing the overall cost.
