Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson today announced three new Board members will join reappointed Chair Danny Griffin on the Board of the South West Development Commission (SWDC).

Kendall Galbraith, Anita Lindemann, and Mikayla Love have been named as the new Board members, each for a three-year term, alongside Danny Griffin who has been reappointed as Chair.

Ms Lindemann joins the Board as a Local Government Representative from the Shire of Donnybrook Balingup. Ms Lindemann has served as a councillor at the Shire for six years and has owned and operated small businesses in the region, offering both local government experience and strong regional knowledge.

Ms Love, who has also been appointed as Local Government Representative, has been a councillor at the City of Busselton since 2021. Ms Love brings a background in marketing, tourism, small business, and community engagement.

Ms Galbraith, who lives in Margaret River, has been appointed as a Community Representative. As CEO of the RRR Network, Ms Galbraith has experience in regional development, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.

In appointing the new members to the SWDC Board, Minister Dawson acknowledged and thanked the outgoing Board members for their service, including Deputy Chair Catrin Pickworth, Julia Jean-Rice, Stan Liaros, and Tresslyn Smith.

You might know of the guy who went to Boyup Brook to get a guitar and ended up with the local pub! ๐ŸŽธ๐Ÿบ๐ŸŽต

But did you know that since reopening the Boyup Brook Hotel, John has continued to renovate the premises which was in a state of disrepair when he took over?

A RED Grant from Round 6 has been able to assist with the progressive refurbishment of the hotelโ€™s accommodation offerings.

Great to see our RED Grants playing a role in increasing short-stay accommodation options, in WA's home of country music.

Also, cool fact ๐Ÿ‘‰ John's original lyrics are on the window of the pub! ๐ŸŽถ

We are delighted to have once again supported the South West Volunteer Awards โ€“ and congratulate all winners and finalists! ๐Ÿ‘

Great to take a moment to thank those who already give their time and help to highlight how volunteering can create connection, purpose, and lasting positive change.

SWDCโ€™s purpose is to drive sustainable growth across the South Westโ€™s diverse industries and unique communities. One of our key priorities is ensuring communities are vibrant, connected and have the services and infrastructure they need.

Our sponsorship of South West Youth Volunteer of the Year award reflects a shared belief in the importance of building a more connected community โ€“ and the recognition of the important contribution that volunteers play, both economically and socially.

A co-operative with a store in the heart of Boyup Brook will expand to meet the demand from the community.๐Ÿ‘

The Boyup Brook Co-Operative Company will use its RED Grant to expand so it can accommodate the increased demand for agricultural product lines and qualities of goods on hand.

The group will establish storage at the old saleyards site on the outskirts of town (main picture).

Thank you to the crew from the Boyup Brook Co-Operative Company for showing us around!
