With hands-on experiences, interactive keeper talks, and more, it’s the perfect day out for the whole family. This facility, which sits on Wardandi Noongar Boodja, is owned, managed, and operated by the City of Bunbury. The City acknowledges the traditional owners of the land, the Wardandi Noongar people, and pays respect to Elders past, present and emerging. Interact with wildlife right in the heart of Bunbury! Feed the parrots in our free flight aviaries, pat the farm animals and get close to an aussie icons such as Kangaroos, Dingoes and Quokkas. Join our Interactive Keeper Talks and learn about our animals from the people who know them best. Get up close with a variety of species and ask all of your questions. If you're lucky you might even get to pat a python, cuddle a baby animal or walk a ferret. We have over 260 varieties of birds, reptiles, mammals, amphibians, marsupials and farm animals so you're sure to find a favourite when you visit. Grab a souvenir or a snack from our Gift Shop. You'll find giftware from local artists, plush toys, Australiana souvenirs, clothing, hats, toys and more. The Wildlife Park is adjacent to a fabulous, accessible children’s playground and the Big Swamp Wetlands. So once you've met all the animals, take the kids for a play on the playground before exploring the wetlands via the numerous board walks.

We’re celebrating 40 years of Bunbury Wildlife Park, and it’s wonderful to see our milestone birthday featured in the local news! 🐾🎉

🎉 Today, we turn 40! 🎉

On this day in 1986, the gates opened to a little place called Big Swamp Bird Park.

Four decades, hundreds of animals and countless visitors later, that little place has grown into the Bunbury Wildlife Park we know and love today.

But today isn’t just a celebration of our Park. It’s a celebration of our community 💚

For 40 years, Bunbury Wildlife Park has been a place where people have come together, discovering a love of animals and creating special moments.

Some of you may have been visiting since the days of Big Swamp Bird Park. Others may have discovered us more recently, but in one way or another, you’ve all helped shape the story of the past 40 years.

Today, we celebrate the animals who have called the Park home, the people who have cared for them, and most importantly, the community that has continued to support us.

So today, we celebrate with you, Bunbury 🥳

Thank you for being part of our story, for supporting us and for helping make Bunbury Wildlife Park such a special part of our community.

Here’s to 40 years of Bunbury Wildlife Park and to the next 40 🎂

Someone was feeling a little curious today… and decided to sneak up for a closer look! 🥹

Meet Poppy, our adorable Brush-tailed Possum, who clearly wanted to know exactly what that camera was doing in her cosy nesting log.

Did you know, Brush-tailed Possums are nocturnal, meaning they’re most active at night. They spend their days resting in cosy hollows, logs or other sheltered spots before heading out after dark to explore, forage and get up to their nighttime adventures. 🌙✨

So while Poppy might look like she’s just having a quiet little snooze… she’s really just saving her energy for later! 😴

We’ll let Poppy get back to her beauty sleep now.

PEEK-A-BOO! 👀

Well, look who decided to pop their little heads out! 🥹

Our Squirrel Gliders are night-time adventurers, so during the day they’re often tucked away in their nest box, having a very important nap. 🌙💤

That can make them a little tricky to spot, but here’s a little tip for your next visit… 🤫

Find a quiet spot near their enclosure, settle in and keep your eyes on the nest box.

If you’re lucky, you might be rewarded with a tiny peek from one of these adorable little faces!

Sometimes, the best wildlife moments are the ones you have to wait for 💚

Fire is soaking up the last few hours of Friday and getting ready for a big weekend at the Park. He can’t wait to see you all!

Those beaks mean business! 💪

Black Cockatoos have some of the strongest beaks in the bird world and for good reason.

Their powerful curved beaks are specially designed to crack open tough gum nuts and seed pods that many other animals can't access. Once they've plucked their food from a tree, they use one foot almost like a hand to hold it steady while carefully breaking it apart.

It's a perfect example of how every part of an animal's body is adapted to help it survive in the wild.
