The Budgeree Hall is the heart of our farming community. Our mission, a connected community. This page does NOT provide emergency information.

The core values of the Budgeree Hall are Respect, Dignity, Tolerance, Inclusion and Diversity. We are here to build community by providing a space where people can come together for positive interactions. The Budgeree Hall is the keystone for the local remote rural community. It provides events throughout the year that encourages the local residents and surrounding regions to come together to swa

p stories and news. The committee organizes and implements the events based on the needs of the community. The most popular event is the annual Budgeree Christmas Tree, which has been running since 1885 and is held the second Saturday in December. A night of fun, games and entertainment plus a Santa visit with lollies for the children and young at heart. The Hall is managed by a volunteer committee appointed by Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA)

The Budgeree Hall is NOT a Community Safe Place in the event of emergency. The nearest neighbourhood safer places are Boolarra Memorial Hall and Charles Bond Park, Wicks St, Yinnar. The Budgeree Hall is in a wildfire region, please do not visit on days of possible extreme weather events. We recommend you download the Vic Emergency App or tune into ABC Gippsland 100.7 FM for the latest information. Please note: The Budgeree Hall Reserve Committee is committed to providing the community with a safe and enjoyable online experience. Inline with our social media policy the committee holds the right to moderate and remove comments and to block individuals and pages without explanation. If you object to our actions, you can appeal in writing to the President, Budgeree Hall Reserve Committee at [email protected]. Your request will be considered at our next quarterly meeting. Being blocked on social media does not block you from the hall. You are welcome to attend public events at the Budgeree Hall or hire the hall for a fee complying with our terms and conditions of hire. 🌟 What a morning at Budger-tea! 🌟

We had such a special gathering today to celebrate National Volunteer Week and at the heart of it all was our very own Edgar.

For 70 years, Edgar has quietly and consistently shown up for this community. Fixing things that needed fixing, teaching the school kids to dance, running the monthly community dances, spraying w**ds, sharing the rich history of this place, and always, always being there for a good chat.

That kind of dedication is rare and precious, and today we got to tell him so.

It was wonderful to see so many people turn out to celebrate with us, and extra special to have Pat, Matt, Will and Sarah from DEECA join us to present Edgar with a very well-deserved certificate of recognition. A beautiful acknowledgement too of the incredible contribution of Edith alongside him.

Thank you Edgar. Thank you Edith. Budgeree is better for you both. 💙

🎉 70 years of service. One very special volunteer.

This National Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating Edgar Owen — a Budgeree Hall Committee member for approximately 70 years (even Edgar’s lost count! 😄).

🔨 WORKING BEE – BUDGEREE HALL 🔨
This Saturday, May 2 we’re getting together for a working bee at the Hall and we’d love to see you there!

Come along from 11am and help us keep this little community treasure in great shape. Whether you’re handy with a hammer, happy to pull a w**d, or just keen to hold the other end of something — we’ll find you a job, we promise! 😄
No experience or special skills needed. All abilities welcome. If you can show up, that’s enough.

And the best part? We’re firing up the BBQ for a sausage sizzle lunch, so you won’t go hungry! 🌭🔥
It’s a great chance to catch up with familiar faces and meet some new ones while doing something good for our community.

Huge “Thank you” to Boolarra Men’s Shed for the making of new cutting boards for the Budgeree Hall.
Neil delivered the first two today and we are very excited to have such beautiful boards.

Community Fire Guard is coming to Budgertea!

CFA will be presenting it’s Community Fire Guard program at Budgeree Hall.

If you are passionate about keeping your home and your family safe, and can get together with your neighbours or other locals from around your area, then Community Fireguard is for you. This program is available for residents in high risk bush or grass fire areas, and is designed to help you:
• Plan for a range of scenarios
• Make informed decisions when it counts
• Maintain a fire smart house and garden
• Work together with your community to reduce everyone's bushfire risk

Latrobe City Councils, Community Resilience Officer will also there to assist as the Budgeree Community creates the first Community Support Hub in Latrobe City.
The Budgeree Support Hub will be designed by the community to provide support for each other should the community be isolated following the impact of an emergency.

The program will commence on Thursday 19th February 12pm to 1pm following Budgertea and run for 8 weeks.

Come join us as we work together to make our community safer!

You do not have to live in Budgeree. This is to help make you prepared and aware no matter where you live.

🎉 That’s a wrap for Budger-Tea 2025! 🎉

We closed out the year with a jolly visit from Santa, plenty of belly laughs, and some good old-fashioned chin wags that warmed the soul. What a way to finish!

Thank you to everyone who joined us throughout the year—your smiles, stories, and spirit make Budger-Tea the heart of our little community.

We’ll be back with the kettle on and the bikkies ready Thursday, January 22, 2026. Until then, stay safe, stay merry, and enjoy the festive season! 🎅☕💬
